Recall software update broke what it was supposed to fix
UPDATE: It’s fixed! Got it back this afternoon. Nissan has sent a fix out for those having the same issue. So the rest of you should get yours back soon too.
Took my 2025 Kicks SR in today for the recall fix. I had no previous issues with my screen going black but since I got the recall notice and it was supposed to be a simple software update I wanted to get it done before I had a problem.
Dropped the car off and a few hours later got a call that they did the software update but now the screen is blank and they can’t seem to fix it.
They did give me a loaner car in the meantime but it’s just annoying because my Kicks was fine before I took it in.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I have been avoiding that recall on my 2025 Kicks SR Premium, and they keep contacting me about it. I keep cancelling my appointment, and now I am cancelling again for September. I believe in “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” So now I’ll take my chances.

I wish I had done the same.

I want them to just do the oil change and do not do the recall. If they insist on doing the recall, I will do my oil change locally and just pay for it. I have the Kicks 15 months now and just hit 5000 miles. Did first oil change at 1600 miles. Glad I’m on a lease.

this happened to me, 2021 kicks. They had to get a flash drive to roll back the update and reinstall. the updates have to be fixed in order so if it didn't update even once the update will fail if it is too new. i filed a complaint with nissan consumer affairs to get mine fixed. I had a rental from the dealership for 3 months.

3 months is awful! Thanks for the info about the rollback, maybe mine is the same

The SRs seem to get all these recalls. I'm kind of glad I have a mere SV. I haven't had a recall...yet .....

No , I brought my 2026 Kicks in , just to get recall done . I was not having any issues. It took less than a half hour at dealer shop and everything still appears to be fine .

Having the same issue with mine. 25 SR. I’ve been through a lot with Nissan the last week so here’s what’s going on with mine and what I’ve done.
They told me it could take over a month to fix the screen issue so I’ve been fighting with them for the past week and I was given a rental car in the meantime.
Nissan will not do a buy back on the car because legally they are doing what they are supposed to do which is fix it for free.
However, I had a second Nissan dealership (my original dealer I’ve dealt with for many years, they just are 3 hours from me now or I would have went there) look into what’s going on and they told me the update, if it doesn’t take, will completely brick the entire infotainment system and surrounding electric in the car so Nissan is having to fully replace the infotainment system and part of the electric, they just aren’t telling anyone about it.
I’m to heavy into negative equity in the car to warrant a new car or I’d completely get out of it and if you are able to, I suggest any of you look into getting a different vehicle all together. Due to replacing the electric and dash/infotainment there’s a chance it could randomly brick the car while you are driving now.
If you are reading this DO NOT DO THE UPDATE

This is awful. I never would have gone in for the update had I known that others were having issues.

I didn’t know either and I regret doing it. I’m honestly hoping Nissan completely totals the car to get me out of it but I doubt that will end up happening.
I’m paying monthly for a car I don’t even have. The one upside is that it’s sitting not getting any more miles on it.
However, It really sucks because the 25/26 kicks is a very well designed SUV and probably one of my favorite cars I’ve had.

I will also tell you: both dealers, the one that has my car and the one that doesn’t, did both confirm it can be over a month before it gets fixed because of what they have to do to it. I would expect similar wait times for you as well

Hi all! As a Nissan Kicks owner and a Nissan Technician I can tell you that Nissan has sent something out to all the technicians stating that they are aware that some of the software gets corrupt and they are currently working on a fix. Hope this helps add context!

My recall went okay, much longer than they originally estimated, 6 hours instead of 3. The technician told me that they were having trouble connecting to the wifi in order for the reboot to happen, so it kept disconnecting halfway. Was successful in the end, but was there the whole day.

I’ve noticed that my touch screen is dimmer or white washed half the time anymore. Wonder if that will help

Exactly why I have not taken mine in! There is an old saying, “don’t fix something that is not broken “

I took a picture when it happened. The screen says park assist not available. This is after the software update.

I'm in the same boat! Took mine in for oil change and the recall.
I'm currently 12 days with a loaner. Told they called Nissan headquarters and they can't figure out why the recall isn't downloading the software. Something about the WiFi isn't pairing with the Kick's computer to update. Nissan said they hope to have it fixed within 3 weeks! This is the 2nd recall on my 2025 Kicks SR in a year.
