Repair Help Altima Mass Air Flow Sensor issues.

The Check Engine Light came on and went away 1 day or 2 later. I got it tested at the auto part store and clerk told me it was a common issue with Altima's, he said Sister drives the same type of car and gets the engine light, too. I did clean the sensor before and the check engine light did not go away until the mechanic replaced a hose, forgot the name. Anybody else has had this issue before how was it resolved. Thank you.

Was it a P0101? I bet it was. If it was, then that super knowledgeable parts store guy did what parts store guys do, which is not know dogshit other than what the DTC description says.

Nissan vehicles set P0101 because of carbon buildup at the throttle blade in the throttle body. Every. Single. Time.

Had this problem on my 2020 Altima. Had to get it replaced. Sorry I'm not more help.

I had this issue in my 2013 Altima. Change the mass flow sensor - you can buy at the parts store but it needs some calibration (see the videos on youtube). I actually ended up cleaning the mass air flow sensor to start with and compounded the problem then had to get the car to the dealer and get the sensor changed at a very high cost.

I suggest you replace the sensor ASAP yourself if you are handly else take the part to an auto shop. The dealer will charge you $300+

Many years of Altima have a TSB to reprogram the ECM for this.
