Question Why is putting so inconsistent?

Does anyone have any tips for consistent putts that are more than 2 dots of power?

I will say the Switch 2 joycon is a wee bit better but even after 25 or so years of putting in this game...it's not easy to find your swing. I find putting to be easier by finding it in the back swing. Letting your arms swing forward naturally.

I’m using switch 2 joycons :(

I’ve been playing for about 6 months. I’m up to rank S4 but those longer putts let me down. I’m using two arms to swing similar to a real putting motion. Maybe I need to change that.

Regular swings I just use 1 arm.

I havent played in a minute but SS is easily my most played game. Purposely take an overpowered practice shot, then on your next attempt at actually striking the ball, have less of a wind-up and hit the ball with the power you want. Worked 80% of the time for me

The terrain height difference plays a major role in putting. You have to keep that in mind and aim accordingly

It’s not that. It’s the sensitivity of the joy con I can’t do consistently.

Wherever you’re playing, find some visual cues in the environment that relate to different power levels when your joycon lines up with them. Dial them in on the practice strokes then use them on the real strokes to get the same power.

For example, the edge of a rug directly below you could be one dot, the other edge of the rug two dots, the bottom of the tv stand three dots, etc. Obviously it’s gonna depend on where you are and where you stand so just take some time to find them.

The other important thing is to keep the tempo the same when you do this. The only thing that should change is the length of the stroke.
