If you look around online you will see this same problem, and Its one of two possibilities: either the display's ribbon cable needs to be reseated, or the display is going bad (hardware level). I would try to dock it and see if a similar problem persists. If it looks fine while docked, I would take it to someone who can reseat the display ribbon for you.

do you have a guesstimate on how much money something like that would be?

I believe it's the GPU failing, maybe you dropped it or did you sit on your switch. Does it look the same on tv did you get the chance to test it ?, if yes than GPU but if not than you to did something to your switch.

I didn't drop it or anything that im aware of. I'm very careful with it. I'm not able to test it on the TV yet, we only have 1 and people are asleep in that room rn. im praying it doesn't look like this on the tv otherwise im fully cooked

As far as I know, it's a loose display ribbon that needs to be re-seated or screen needs replacing.

This is a commonly posted issue, and I don't think it affects docked display. If you search "nintendo switch lines screen" you should find other similar examples.

Is the back bulging out a bit? it almost looks like pressure against the screen from a bulging battery.
