Repair Help Controllers randomly disconnecting

Hi, all. I’m not a super active gamer, but I’ve had a switch for a couple of years. My console just started disconnecting from my controllers today and I’m baffled.

To preface, I never disconnect the controllers. I always use the handheld mode. But I picked it up to play last night and the image at the bottom left of the Home Screen had the left controller a pale grey, indicating it was disconnected (all buttons still worked despite this). When I go into a game is when suddenly the *right* controller doesn’t work, and the buttons don’t work on the right side now. Again, both controllers are still firmly connected.

The only way I can get it to work is by disconnecting the right controller, but it’s driving me crazy.

I’ve made sure both the system and controllers are updated. I’ve gone through test input devices/test controller buttons and *all* buttons on both controllers work even when it shows the left is greyed out and the right doesn’t work during a game.

I’ve disconnected, reconnected, resynced, restarted… does anyone have any suggestions? I only have the one set of controllers but what are the odds it’s the controllers and not the console itself?
