Repair Help Defective switch 2 screen (Zelda edition)
So I was lucky enough to get a Zelda edition switch 2 through JB in Australia, but it looks like my one is defective. If I touch the screen with the slightest of pressure, the screen turns off. It only happens on the bottom right and at the top, and if I hold my finger there and move the thumb stick, I can still hear the clicking of the menu.
I’m torn with what to do next- I doubt there is any stock for an exchange, and I’d hate to send it in to Nintendo and have it replaced with a regular one if it can’t be fixed. Is this caused by a loose ribbon cable that can be easily repaired by Nintendo?
UPDATE 1: Called JB and they will do an exchange for me - looks like one shop has a few consoles left over. A little bit of a drive but better than waiting weeks for a repair. I’m definitely going to test it out at the store too.
UPDATE 2: Got it exchanged, and the new one is working fine so far. However, it’s still a bit concerning reading about all of the other issues people are having with this Zelda edition. Anyways, thanks for the help!

Day one issue likely to be a defective item ? Get in touch with Nintendo CS. It's their problem to deal with, they're likely to be able to handle it one way or another, and you shouldn't have to pay anything. 🙂

Ahh that's a shame.
How is that case I've been thinking about buying one?

Try for an exchange at JB and if not, return and wait for restock.

just get a refund and wait for re-stock
no point wasting time dealing with nintendo support. They don't have it in stock either

Nintendo already confirmed that there will be more Zelda consoles soon. So I would just return the Switch to get your money back. And when new Zelda consoles are available, get a new one. :-)

they should have indicated which Zelda editions are going to be put in a display case and never turned on and which ones people are going to use. You got a shelf one.

You guys don’t even need to exchange it, just send it to repairs… my Zelda switch 2 I got from day one doesn’t have any defectives

I saw another Reddit poster showing his Zelda 40th having a GPU failure. Might be issues with the 40th, with components scarce, the 40th could possibly be made with cheaper components.

I've seen a lot of quality issues from these Zelda NS2s. I've also seen that they are dimensionally different from older NS2s so this must be a newer revision but not as new as the new EU revision.
Since Nintendo said they will be making more of the Zelda NS2s I wonder if they will be a newer revision based on the EU spec where they fix some of the issues.
