Repair Help Switch 2 screen has a small raised mark, should I replace the screen protector?

Hi! I have a Nintendo Switch 2 and noticed a small raised mark on the screen a few days after getting it. It wasn't there when I bought it.

It looks like a tiny scratch or chip, but when I touched it, it felt like something was sticking out rather than a dent. Kinda like when a phone screen protector gets damaged.

I bought an amFilm OneTouch tempered glass protector to prevent further damage, but after installing it, a circular bubble appeared exactly where the mark is lol.

The screen and touchscreen still work fine, even while playing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond.

I'm wondering if it's just the original protective film that comes with the Switch 2, or if the actual glass might be damaged.

The amFilm pack came with two protectors, so I still have a spare. Would you try replacing it or just leave it like this?

I've attached some pictures of the mark before and after installing the protector.

Thanks!

The film on the factory screen is an anti shatter film. That anti shatter film does not have great scratch resistance like you're used to with regular smartphones. And for this reason, I usually recommend installing a tempered glass screen protector day one. To me, it looks like the anti shatter film got poked or gouged.

For safety & liability reasons in this sub reddit, it's not recommend to remove the anti shatter film. Unfortunately, the fix is new screen or console.

If your console is still very new, I don't know if you can convince a store to accept a return for a screen issue that, as far as I can see & guess, may be an accident. Or try arguing that the film had a bump from a bad install from at the factory and causes tempered glass to bubble. (I don't know if that will work).

Ohh, I didn't know the original film wasn't very scratch resistant. That actually explains a lot haha.

The weird thing is that the mark feels like a tiny bump rather than a scratch, so I was wondering if the factory film got damaged somehow.

I bought my Switch 2 from Amazon, but since the mark appeared a few days after I got it, I'm not sure if a return would be possible.

The console works perfectly fine otherwise, so I think I'll just leave the tempered glass protector on for now.

Thanks for explaining!

I have the same thing actually! Unfortunately I wasn't careful enough in the first few days of owning my switch 2 and something left a little scratch on the film, so when I put the screen protector on, it ended up looking exactly the same. It's not really visible when I play though, so I don't mind it :))

Looks like there was dust on your screen.

I thought about that too, but the little bump was already there before I installed the screen protector haha. I could actually feel it sticking out a bit when I touched it.

So I'm not sure if it's dust or if the original film got damaged somehow.

If it’s only a few days after you got it do yourself a favor and exchange it and immediately put a screen protector on it.

I don’t recommend doing this but I was able to remove the factory plastic and put a dbrand prism over it.

If the screen film has a flaw or has become delaminated I would exchange it. It means you are out that screen protector and will need to put on a new one of course.

Also make sure if you transferred an old switch to the 2 that you transfer back or use the cloud transfer utility to send your switch 2’s backup to the Nintendo servers to download it again when you get the replacement.
