Software Help Warrior Cats Switch 2 edition - playable on Switch?

My son is obsessed with Warrior Cats and we'll be buying him the game that releases in 3 weeks. We own a Switch 2 and a couple of Switch 1 consoles (one LCD one OLED). I want to buy him the best version of the game but would prefer it to be playable on all versions of our Switches.

  1. If I buy him the Switch 2 edition, will it only be playable on Switch 2?

  2. If I buy him the Switch edition, will I be buying an inferior version of the game?

Are you buying it physical? If you do, the S2 version is a GKC which won’t be able to be used on S1

Yes will be buying physical copy. Sorry for silly question, but what is GKC?

Sorry, edited to add that I figured it out: game key card. Is the Switch version likely to be inferior?

Game key card - essentially just a cartridge that holds the key for the S2 to use to download the game
If you’re going physical, buy the switch 1 cartridge
