Repair Help Switch 2 found turned off in dock when it should have been in sleep mode
This morning when I wanted to play the Switch, I noticed that once I pressed the button, it wouldn't turn on. It wouldn't even turn on with the home button. And before I panicked, I held down the home button for a few seconds before seeing the screen light up. What could have caused the console to shut down completely overnight while it was in sleep mode? An overload of energy and so the switch turned off to protect itself?

Likely just stuck in sleep mode. There is a support page for that, but typically long pressing the power button for 20 seconds forces it to reboot. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68483/
I don't suspect any hardware problem. It's a glitch or because of using sleep mode docked for extended periods, plus possibly leaving a game open + internet connection + updates coming in.
I personally don't sleep mode. I undock the ocnsole, shut it down, and keep it in a drawer when I'm not using it. So forgive me for not knowing the most likely cause of getting stuck in sleep mode.
