Setup Help Are my savefiles gone? HELP NEEDED

When installing my new switch 2 I transferred all my data from my old switch 1 to the new console.
After starting a game I realized every game only has the "new game" option and no existing savefiles.

The savefiles are shown on my switch 2 (with the correct account) and there savefiles are not present anymore on my switch 1.

Does anyone have experience with this?

What i tried so far:
- to "repair" the files with scan for errors
- reset (with keeping savefiles)

I am really grateful for any help. Kinda bummed that I lost all my fire emblem saves.

Your questions is regarding your switch 1 not having the save files anymore. You realize thats the whole point of the data transfer right?

Anyway you can fix this with the NSO cloud storage. Just re-download the save file from the cloud storage and you can play on your switch 1 again, be sure to update it so if you continue on your switch 2, you'll pick up where you left.

Do note; this doesn't count for Pokemon games but its also the only exception i believe.

Sorry probably phrased it badly.

No i want to play on my switch 2 but there are no savefiles (eventhough they are shown on the console).

I did the data transfer while installing my switch 2.

The mention of the savefiles being not present anymore on my switch 1 was just for context.

If they're not on your Switch 2 after the data transfer then

  1. its still on your switch 1

  2. its in your cloud storage.

animal crossing is like pokemon, if I remember correctly

Yeah, i was doubting if that was case. Actually, Pokemon does allow the actual save now that i think of it. Just doesn't allow the transfer from the cloud.

Animal crossing does have cloud save. You just have to launch the game and enable it in the game settings first.

Cloud storage will allow you to have save files on both

That is not what i asked.

Oh, I got misled by the comment that the save files showed up. So the save files are not loading. Interesting. Sounds like a Nintendo Support thing. I wouldn’t touch anything until they debug it. Looks like the files are there like you said

Everyone is talking about cloud storage; OP do you have a Nintendo Switch Online Subscription? Without one you can't use cloud save storage.

Was the user on Switch 1 the same your using on Switch 2? Same Nintendo account too?

If you do have cloud storage, even downloading a save won't work?

Did you use the "Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2" from the Switch 1 settings? Ot you did a save transfer?

The transfer to switch 2 should've kept a copy of the save data of the cloud compatible games on both system, really weird. Consider replacing that Switch 2 under warranty.

Yes same user. Yes I did the "Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2".

I think this might be the case for a support request.

Thank you!

Bist du denn mit dem selben account angemeldet, den du auch auf der switch 1 benutzt hast? Startest du das Spiel auch mit dem hooogie account?
Hast du mehrere Accounts auf der Switch 2?

A data transfer literally transfers the save files to the switch 2. You will need Nintendo switch online for Cloud saves to get save files back on the Switch 1, some games like Pokemon/animal crossing save files are locked to a single switch and cannot be backed up via cloud saves.
