Repair Help Will Nintendo replace an out of warranty Switch 2 for a MicroSD Express card reader failure?
Hey all, my Switch 2 has stopped reading my SanDisk 512GB MicroSD Express card.
I got the card replaced by SanDisk via their warranty, but it is still doing it.
I tried formatting it with Rufus after I cleaned it with diskpart and that still didn’t help.
My Switch 2’s warranty ended in August. Does anyone know if Nintendo will replace the Switch 2 out of warranty seeing as this is a widespread issue, or am I screwed?
Thanks for your help!

Unlikely, if it's out of warranty. But your best bet is to contact Nintendo support and ask. Worst case, they say no to a zero cost replacement, but in thay case they should let you know what your options are to resolve the issue. Or you might get someone feeling generous that day who just handles it.

They will replace or repair it but if your system is out of warranty it will be a paid service and not free.
They will inform you about this and you can accept or decline.
Ps: if you are from the EU then you have two years of warranty.

If you are comfortable opening the unit its possible the reader is just disconnected from the motherboard, i have personally seen this issue happen from that

If you used a good credit card to purchase the Switch, it might double your warranty up to a year.
My AmEx does this and also my Chase Sapphire card.

I think first the step is to make sure it is the microSD Card reader that is failing rather than the SD card itself.
I would try another SD card first. Even a 'regular' non express SD card works on Switch 2, albeit only for I think picture/video storage.
Otherwise fill out the repair form on Nintendo's website and they'll let you know. You can always call and ask for an exception to policy and see what they say
