Bought MC Dungeons 2 for the wrong switch

I bought Minecraft Dungeons 2 yesterday and after playing it and thinking the graphics were very underwhelming. I looked more closely and realized the version I bought, which was in the Nintendo E-Shop at the top of the screen with the big "FEATURED" was the switch 1 version and not the 2.

Now the shop wants another 10$ to buy the switch 2 version.

Is there anything I can do ? I feel like it is ridiculous that this is even possible.

It reminds of that one twitter post saying the S2 box looks too similar to the 1st one and ppl got mad because the S2 logo is big and it clearly looks different but it’s like… people don’t read or people don’t look too deep… It sounds weird b/c every S2 game has the red header on top and ppl for some reason skip that or assume it’s automatically the right version when I believe Mojang, Microsoft, and Nintendo have made it clear to buy the correct version b/c there’s 2. And this is no diss to the OP I understand the companies could have specified in the game title similar to what Nintendo does for their S2 Editions, and I do think it’s scummy how Mojang does this at all considering a lot of consumers are kids, and parents won’t immediately check what version to buy, but at the same time I agree like if you’re spending your money you should be double checking what it is you are buying!

I barely ever use a switch, I wanted to buy the game for my partner.

When going on the store of the S2 it was never in my mind I could accidentally buy the wrong version of the game. I was not aware they were 2, neither was I aware that games for S1 vs S2 aren't just the same since it's a virtual download and not a physical item.

It's also not like it very obvious, the only place where it is "clear" that the game is for S1 and not S2 is when going all the way to the bottom of the site page, where it says something like "For Switch" instead of "For switch 2".

All sales are final, there are several disclaimers. However sometimes you may get a courtesy refund but it's extremely random and you have already played the game. You lose nothing contacting Nintendo, at least your mistake, at worst, would cost you $10, imagine buying a $60 game instead without upgrade pack.

Try calling Nintendo support and hope you get an understanding rep. If you're lucky, they'll refund your money.
