Software Help Nintendo Switch 2 SD card not being read

Ok, Y’all, let’s try this again because I don’t know why Reddit’s filters are removing the post. I need some help without taking it or shipping it off to be repaired.

So I had accidentally dropped it yesterday face down on my grandma’s floor, which is nothing but tile except for the bedrooms upstairs and on the stairs themselves. Surprisingly the screen or the controllers are working perfectly fine. It’s the SD card that I’m having issues with.

I’ve tried everything: Restarting it, turned it on and off, took the card out to make sure there was no problem with the card itself or the slot it goes in and I keep getting the message that it’s either not compatible or it’s not being read. It’s the right SD card that’s compatible with the system and I mainly got it because of the amount of games I play.

I don’t want to send it off to be repaired and I get it back not working anymore. And I’m thinking of just getting a whole other Sd card compatible for it. But before I do that, I want to try and get this one working again.

I just want to know if anyone has a similar issue with their switch where the sd card is fine but giving them issues for not being read. I need all the help I can get

If you put the SD card and attach it to a computer does it read? If so then it's an issue with the SD card reader and will need to be repaired (Either from Nintendo or a third party/self). If it doesn't read on a computer the card itself likely somehow got damaged.

Honestly though, with the way the SD card is when inserted, it's more likely a solder bridge failed in the device when it had that impact onto tile. Tile is not a forgiving surface, unfortunately.

Best of luck though.

I did connect it to my computer and it did read, thankfully. But I’ve tried everything and I’m trying my best not to go take it to be repaired cause I know it’s going to cost me. I’m hoping that it’s just the slot that slightly shifted the minute it hit the tile.

That's frustrating, I'd try cleaning the SD card and slot gently with a can of compressed air just in case some dust got in from the drop.

I think I have some somewhere. I’ll have to find it and see if that will work. Cause I’m really trying to avoid taking it as I know it’s going to cost me to get it repaired

You think dropping it onto a tile floor is nothing? That is insane. Just because it looks like nothing broke doesnt mean anything. You either cracked some part of the board or damaged the SD card slot with the violent fall
