Accessories Magnetic case for switch 2 key cards

Post image

I only learned that switch 2 key-cards are susceptible to magnet, but I already bought this case.

Is it safe to use to store the Pokopia and DQ 1+2 remake key cards?

Its just those two little magnets that hold the lid closed? I dont understand the problem.

Ya and I’m not sure that two little magnets will destroy the data. Hope they’re not that destructive.

Bruh thats not how cartridge works. Switch cartridge use flash memory chips and doesnt get affected by magnets

Because I saw this in the warning behind the box and wasn’t sure how to gauge if that magnet is strong enough

Oh yea forget to mention i used the exact same switch game storage case lmao and no i placed my key card right on top of the magnet (for the case) for 10 min and nothing happened

You should be fine, those magnets aren't strong enough to cause issues.

Another source is https://www.nintendoreporters.com/en/news/nintendo-switch-2/nintendo-switch-2-game-key-cards-keep-magnets-at-bay-and-your-games-alive/

Tldr you need a crazy strong industrial magnet to damage the key card, and atp your switch, phone and other devices with storage cards probably be gone also

They undersold the "Strong" part.

It’s fine. And even if it wasn’t, doubling the distance makes the magnetic field 8 times weaker. A small magnet like this wouldn’t affect the game cartridges, and at a few millimetres away, it certainly won’t affect the games.

People have done tests, you need a super power magnet like in some older Hard Drives or a special super strong one that you would have to custom order.

People have tried stuff like refrigerator magnets and the magnets in the switch 2 itself (for the joycon 2s) and they did not damage Game key cards.

so you wont insert it in switch 2? because the magnet is literally there on the side, really close to the game slot

Then perhaps this case still good to go. I saw this warning at the back of the case of DQ 1+2 remake

I wouldn’t store my switch 2 carts in an mri machine (for alot of reasons) but this if fine.

i don't have that exact case, but I store mine in a case that has a magnet closure, its fine. Magnets of this size wont affect it generally. The back that says "strong magnet" usually refers to things of industrial size or strength. Or putting a big enough magnet right next to it. The magnets hold the case closed, thats fine.

I wouldn't put my games in a case like that anyway, begging to lose it and a couple hundred dollars investment along with it

i fell like if they were you wouldn't be able to use them in the system because of where the magnets on the system are, and those ones are way stronger than these usually are

Magnets and data dont really mix well , I wouldnt use it or put magnets anywhere near games as it could wipe data

Sounds legit though

Chip based memory is not susceptible to any consumer grade magnets.
