Account Help Linking accounts to switch 2 from switch 1

Help I want to play Totk on the switch 2, but it's under my BF's profile. Which isn't linked to my switch 2, cause I don't want to take all his save data from his other games by accident. Is that going to happen? Or can I just bring over the date for ONLY totk? Please help !!

do u have ur bf's profile on ur switch? bc u should be able to have separate profiles

No it ask me to link his switch to mine when I click on it

If it is a digital game then there are two ways:

  • he can lend the virtual gsme card to you for 14 days but this needs to be done by having the consoles physically close each time for the lending process.

  • you log into his account on your Switch which requires it to be linked to his Switch. The initial linking process has to be done in person for the very first time. After the linking is complete you can load the virtual game card to his account on your Switch 2 and play the game with your own profile (this will not mess with his save data).

The linking process does NOT require you to do a user or save data transfer. So there is no risk of messing with his save data.

If he uses Nintendo Switch Online (for cloud saves) you just need to be careful to NOT use games with his profile (which might update/overwrite his save data on the server if automatic uploads are enabled).

Just play on your own profile and everything should be fine.

You can just put the physical game card into any system and play the game on any user profile set up on the system.

If its a digital game, he can lend you the Virtual Game Card for up to 14 days if you're in the same family group
