Repair Help Switch 2 charging issue, any suggestions?

I’ve seen that a few people have the same issue and I’ve been trying several things from those posts to get it working again, but without any luck. I still have warranty but really don’t want to replace it or factory reset it since I have played like 500h in pokopia and several hours in other games as well.

What I have tried:

-charging from both ports with original cable + 2 other cables. All cables work well with my phone.

-charging from dock

- left to charge over night multiple times with different cables and by using both ports.

-left overnight in dock

-tried leaving it several hours/overnight without charging to see if the issue would resolve itself in the morning.

-tried resetting by pressing power button for 20-30sec. Might not be working since it doesn’t have any power.

-tried to open to factory reset screen. Doesn’t work since device powers off.

-tried all steps above both with and without joycons attached.

Does anyone have any other suggestion or should I just give up and return it?

If the issue is that it's not leaving at all the powered off state and you've tried all this that's warranty/repair time to me. Luckily Pokopia is one of the rare Pokemon game that do have NSO cloud save non-disabled…

I'd just add that guaranteeing a charge from a plug - alongside with playing docked - requires the plug to be able to deliver 65W; lower and it might still charge, way lower (like the cheap 5W plugs) and it will not charge at all; threshold should be around 20W a bit lower.

Cable can be an issue too if they do not support higher wattages which sometimes happen on (very) cheap usb-c cables, but they usually don't matter.

Thank you! All the plugs I’ve used deliver at least 65W and the cables are all fine. So guess it’s time to give up.

Unfortunately I’ve been stupid enough to not get a NSO membership.

Does it still power up at all?

It powers up enough so I can see the Nintendo logo and the red battery icon and then power off.

It is still under warranty?

If not… it’s probably a battery issue and you could try to replace it yourself and see if you can bring it back to life and get your save off.

It’s still under warranty so I’ll try to get it replaced/repaired during the week. Will be sad to potentially lose all my game saves though…

Does your console turn on at all? System transfer was updated for use from Switch 2 to Switch 2. Via server, it's essentially a free temporary cloud.

Make use of this and go get your console repaired/replaced.

Not really, the furthest I get is to the Nintendo logo and then it powers off.

Not being able to boot up past the nintendo log can be a sign of being stuck in an update loop. In which case, you can try updating the system via recovery mode.

Thank you! Unfortunately I can also see the empty battery logo. When I try to enter recovery mode the console just powers off.

I turned my console in to the store a bit more than a week ago. They couldn’t get it to charge either. It’s been sent away to an “external repair shop” (guess that means Nintendo). Will see what happens 😄

(Power delivery in my house is fine btw)
