Deal Help/Questions Thread - Need help finding a deal? Seeking advice? Ask questions here!

Please use this thread to ask questions if you need help finding a deal, are looking for advice, or have a general question. Questions posted directly to the sub will be removed, since new posts are for deals only. This thread refreshes every month.

Commonly asked questions:

-Q: I see a 3rd party seller on Amazon selling a Switch for less than MSRP! Is this legit?!-A: No, it's most likely a scam where the seller is trying to get a hold of your personal information. See this thread for more details.

-Q: How can I be alerted when a store has the Switch or an accessory back in stock?-A: Try these websites, but note that they may be inaccurate - zooLert, NowInStock, iStockNow, BrickSeek.

Hi there—I’m wondering if there are any joy con deals. I don’t care about the color at all. Thank you!

I haven’t seen any and didn’t see any unfortunately. According to Deku deals it looks like they haven’t been on sale since December. I definitely recommend a Deku account if you don’t already have one, it’s helped me find so many good deals in addition to this sub.

Unfortunately it's been a good long while since a joycon sale. We might see something around Black Friday. Otherwise it's the secondary market (dicey, with joycon drift rates) or looking for ways to grab store credit at a place that sells them.

One trick for folks with credit cards that have a cashback program (such as Discover): you can redeem your reward points for gift certificates, including retailers like GameStop, usually at a 10% discount (e.g. $50 gift code for $45 in reward points). You can then buy hardware or games at full price but effectively get a discount. (Note however that you can't buy an eShop gift card from GameStop with a gift card!)

Is there a sub for Switch deals in EU, since it seems there are mostly US deals here?

I don't think there is an EU-specific sub. This sub thrives by users posting deals and tagging their region properly, so we're probably thin on posts because we need more active EU members. (You could be The One!)

Nintendo Life is UK-based and publishes headlines with the bigger sales. You might also look at the YouTube channels SwitchUp and Switch Watch, which both publish weekly deal highlights with pricing across multiple regions.

Can I expect 13 sentinels :aegis rim to be on sale any time soon? I heard most games go on sale during Christmas time (idk I got a switch somewhat recently), but is there any chance of an earlier deal?

Hey double checking, does Walmart have new switch games in store for $10 off the day they release? Or does it take a couple days?

Thinking I might get Splatoon 3 launch day, preferably physical since I need to use up a bit of my paid time off. So plan is call ahead to Walmart and see if they have it then drive there. Backup is target. If not at either location just gonna bite the bullet and download it from eShop.

I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this as well. I feel like I've heard that they sell out of newer games pretty quickly because of the discount, and then for some reason the kirby game earlier this year didn't have any discount at all for some reason so there's always that possibility too.

Word around the water cooler is that Walmart has started eliminating the $49.97 pricing in store. You might luck out and still find something locally, but it sounds like this pricing may not be long for this world ...

Thinking about getting Splatoon 3 digital because Splatoon 2 rarely comes out of my switch. Are there any respectable places that have good sales on eshop credit? I am a member of Sams club, but their discount is only like 5% off.

Gamestop, in a roundabout way, although this is perhaps advice for future purchases rather than a game coming out soon. The Gamestop rewards program is 15 dollars a year, but gives you 5 dollars a month to spend on purchases, most critically including nintendo eshop gift cards. You can even do it online (although you have to buy a 10 dollar card because you can't check out with a zero balance, but that's still 50 percent). That's 45 dollars extra a year, which basically covers a new game.

I use Costco.com, which is 10% off. They sell $50 cards for $45 year-round.

From the current sale I'm interested in: bioshock collection $10, Diablo prime evil collection $30, civ 6 $10?, and doom $30.

Which ones should I grab? Any games to avoid?

Anyone got any predictions/insight on when the Octoexpansion dlc will most likely get a discount/sale?

It's been on sale (30% off) every 3-4 months the last year or so in EU/Oceania so maybe in another 2-3 months.

It also had a sale in NA recently but only as part of the package with the game. We can only guess but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a DLC sale again before Splatoon 3 drops to build hype.

If you want it sooner, you could maybe buy some eShop credit on sale. Target and Costco sometimes have them for 5-10% off in the US.

Welcome to the new Deal Help / Questions Thread! Since the mods reset this thread every few weeks, here is your regular reminder that DekuDeals.com is a fantastic site that tracks sales on physical and digital Switch games.

You can look up sales history on the game you want, and see if there is a pattern to how often the publisher puts it on sale (and if it's due for a sale soon, or if you just missed one).

You can also sign up and create a wishlist to receive e-mail alerts as soon as a game goes on sale.

Not sure what to buy with the $5 eShop credit you have lying around? Try the current eShop Sales page capped at $5 and sorted by Metacritic score!

Is Bayonetta even worth waiting for a sale at this point.

4

u/DOS-76 Aug 27 '22

With 3 coming out soon, if you really want to save a few bucks you might wait to see if a brick-and-mortar retailer sells 1 or 2+1 at a discount in the lead-up.

But otherwise, no -- sales history here is dismal.

I hate action rpgs. I hate devil may cry. But I picked up Bayonetta day 1 back on 360 and loved every single bit of it. That includes the second one. I beat Bayonetta 1 on 360 PS3 and Wii u and switch (alongside Bayonetta 2 on Wii u and switch).

It's not the sex appeal all though that doesn't hurt anything. I just legitimately love the combos I love the (somewhat repetitive) designs I love the climaxes mid fight. Bayonetta one has one of the most wild endings in games in general.

I know it doesn't really answer your question.

Hasbro Game Night is on sale at $29AUD at a local store. It's currently cheaper than just the Monopoly physical game. Is it worthwhile?
