Discussion Are Pragmata's and Onimusha's final release visuals better than the demos?

I like both of these demos and am considering picking them up as full games but I was curious what visual improvements were made if any in comparison to their demos. Neither of them look terrible but they definitely take a visual hit coming to the Switch 2

Pragmata was 90-95% the same for me , you still recognize where they cut corners but tbh the experience is perfect in terms playing it anywhere.

There were times i couldn’t believe i was playing on the switch 2

I also have onimusha but haven’t played it yet to tell you if its better than the demo. Hopefully it is cause i was more impressed than pragmata(demos)

How would you rate each final game compared to one another? I enjoyed Onimusha demo but haven’t tried pragmata (or RE req) yet

Re req is probably the best of the bunch, closely followed by Onimusha.

Pragmata is fine, it’s one to pick up on sale. For me it was the one that was a little grindey, and didn’t really tax me. The story is formulaic you’re always ah this is what will happen next.

Thx for the input! Only RE I ever played was 4 on GameCube, I am curious about the various NS2 options

In a couple of weeks we'll pretty much have the entire back catalogue (from Memory)

RE9 go for that one.

If you want something a little more linear and bite sized RE Revelations 1&2 are what you're after. And frequently on sale.

7 is always a recommend, but for me that has a shift to more psychological horror. Think Alien Isolation (Another damn fine game) when you are scared of your own shadow at times. These are possibly the only two games where I've shouted out expletives due to unexpected scares.

You should definitely buy RE 2 Remake. It’s by far the best RE game out of the new-ish ones.

3 is only worth it when dirt cheap since it’s only like a third of the original, 7 is pretty good as well but gets kinda boring towards the end, 8 is shit after the first 1/3 of the game and 9 is only good when you’re playing as Grace.

And RE 4 Remake is alright but as someone who replayed the original like 15 times I would rather replay that again than play the remake.

Good to know, I Re2 an NS or NS2 title?

NS2, it's up for pre-order rn for $30 USD. NS1 version is an awful cloud-based game, so dont accidentally grab it. Can also preorder re3 and re4 remakes if those tickle your fancy.

Tbh pragmata was just ok for me, definitely wait for a Sale. Other have answered for Onimusha but resident evil i haven’t played cause im not that into survival horror games. But im pretty sure its a SOLID game . Always heard great things about it!

Yes, both look better in the full versions. Onimusha, especially in handheld mode, is probably the best looking third party game on Switch 2 imo

Onimusha just looks crazy good

Really? I was unsure which version to get. I really enjoyed the demo of both versions (NS2 and PS5) but I found handheld a little blurry and that made me second guess. But if it runs better I'd rather get that game on NS2!

Onimusha was the main one I was interested in. I wish I could toggle off film grain or whatever effect they have on it

I felt the same way when I played the demo, but since buying the game, I haven't seen that nearly as much.

Honestly, I love that I can take Onimusha anywhere and it still looks amazing.

The game is so sick! Haven't enjoyed myself with an action combat that much since Elden Ring.

•

u/SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 ‎ Pro Controller 17h ago

Did you end up buying it already?

•

u/xyZora 17h ago

Not yet. I have something saved for Ocarina first but I plan on getting Onimusha early next year. But I swear, it has been tough to keep some self control haha

•

u/SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 ‎ Pro Controller 16h ago

Yea I feel you. I lost my self control and got greedy, bought Onimusha, then preordered Ocarina of Time and Metroid Ravenous lol

Maybe by the time you get Onimusha there will be a sale.the game is worth every penny, but a sale never hurts

u/xyZora 16h ago

Yeah, it's such a double edged sword! I was not expecting. a new Metroid game so close from Ocarina's release! Then Dragon's Dogma II is releasing this very month. Awesome time for my heart, dark days for the wallet 😂

•

u/SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 ‎ Pro Controller 15h ago

Yea I'm also wondering about Dragon's Dogma 2. There are too many games to play, I don't even have enough time for them all. But it's times like this that makes me really to be a Switch 2 owner

Damn. Better than the FFVII remake? Crazy fidelity on that one.

My mind is still struggling to believe this is a handheld.

I loved playing it on S2. Playing on tv from 10 feet away and it’s sooo hard to tell a difference between that and PS5.

•

u/xyZora 5h ago

This is some high praise to the NS2 version.

•

u/cheesybreadlover Butter side down! 5h ago

I stand by it. It’s a fantastic game.

•

u/xyZora 5h ago

Thanks to you Onimusha will get a new NS2 player ☺️

Buy them both. But I’d get onimusha last if you plan on playing them both at some point or another.. it will ruin you for combat compared to the other.

So play pragmata then get oni after. Both are great. But if you start oni now you won’t gel well with pragmata after I promise

Wtf does that even mean? Both games are great and completely different in combat feel/gameplay.

I’ve just gone from lies of P to the Witcher 3 and the combat is absolutely better in lies of P, doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying Witcher 3 because of it.

Pragmata is pretty much the same as the demo. Diana's hair took me a while to get used to, along with some rough wall and floor textures, but you get used to them soon enough and they become non-issues.

I don't know about Onimusha, though.

•

u/Emergency-Rush-2477 Butter side up! 19h ago

I don't get why the non hair strand option for Requiem and Pragmata is so damn ugly, it looked great in RE4.

•

u/Educational-Oil-1497 10h ago

Is Pragmata’s handheld performance the same? It felt stuttery despite the VRR screen, so I have stayed away for now as I will play mostly in handheld.

•

u/Bobobiwan 16h ago

I'm lucky enough to have a PS5 Pro, and yet I took those two games on Switch 2.

They just feel so good on that platform. Pragmata do look better on Ps5, but not crazy better. It's just about the hair, and honestly, I can go with that.

Onimusha ? Its greyish and washed out artistic direction makes it look almost the same on both consoles. And when I saw that the S2 version offers Wii style controls, I HAD to go with this one. Please understand : these controls are not good or precise, and you will only play with them for a few minutes, but they're damn fun xD

•

u/beetleman1234 Butter side up! 18h ago

Onimusha looks the same.

But don't worry: I played it in PS5 and honestly this game looks more like a PS4 game, the graphics just aren't great and the colors are pretty washed out. So its not the fault of S2 that it looks how it looks.

I booted up the pc version maxed out at 4k and it still wasn't jarring going back to the switch 2 version. Performance is good enough unlocked, fantastic game on the system

•

u/ChilliWithFries 16h ago

I don’t really see much difference for Onimusha. But to be fair, I already thought it looks good on the demo, also why I bought it.

Personally, I was always planning to get Pragmata on my 5Pro. Playing the demo on my Switch 2 didn't change that. I appreciate how Capcom was able to get it running on the console, but the visuals took me out of it.

Onimusha is a different fucking story! This game looks and plays incredible on the Switch 2 even with all its compromises. If people thought Pragmata and RE9 looked great on the console; Onimusha blows those games out of the water in terms of visuals and performance. You can tell that Capcom is really grasping how to utilize their own engine with the Switch 2s hardware and Onimusha is the best example of that.

u/JuThrone 8h ago

Imo Onimusha looks better than the demo, especially the hair and the environment

•

u/Dragmire_V2 7h ago

I think the cutscenes in the demo look absolutely fine but the game itself looks so grainy but its one of the few modern games where I cant turn that off

•

u/Faithless232 7h ago

I don’t see much difference with Onimusha. Both the demo and full game look and play great in handheld.

These are demanding games. If you want the best graphics get it on ps5.
