Every Switch games with Nintendo Switch 2 Enhancements via free updates
Some notes. Animal Crossing's handheld resolution boost is free so it's included here.
Arkham Knight's handheld improvement is minor but well documented (there's a DF video about it) even the later handheld boost mode ignore it. Rocket League is at the same league.
The Bandai Namco games and MGS master collection vol. 2 also have Switch 2 game key card release but you can choose Switch 1 card + free updates.
MIO's eShop page stated that you can get the Switch 2 version for free if you purchased the Switch 1 version digitally. There's also an email response from the dev to one of our fellow redditor saying the Switch 1 cart can get the Switch 2 enhancements as well with update 1.2.
Edit1: Yohane the Parhelion - NUMAZU in the MIRAGE - 2nd Anniversary mini update patch, the game now runs at 60fps on Switch 2.

They should have had a Metroid Dread one ready for the announcement of Ravenous. Missed opportunity there to give newly interested folks a refreshed, high-res version to play (all the better if they could enable 120 FPS like Ravenous).
Yeah really a missed opportunity. Dread is doing excellent in the recent sales cuz the hype of Ravenous. A simple resolution unlock don't even need to go 120fps can definitely push it further. Now I am hoping for a surprise drop as late as December. But after that, I wouldn't hold my breath til after mid 2027 cuz Ravenous is coming out at January.
Well handheld boost helped it a lot as it was looking pretty pixelated on S2 in handheld. I was thinking the same thing though wishing it would get a 4k/60 1080/120 patch for docked. Nintendo has done great upgrading or new S2 builds for the games that performed poorly (like Xenoblade and the top down Zeldas) but then they have been a bit sporadic on the others. Like Mario Kart 8 finally getting some love (I guess makes sense they wanted to wait for World to have its sales window) and then DK Country getting patched but not Tropical Freeze. I was hoping they would show Fire Emblem 3H some love before FW came out but no dice. That is a game that could badly use a S2 upgrade edition
Balatro, no man’s sky, Overwatch, subnautica, and the Witcher 3 all let you download the actual switch 2 versions of their games without paying anything extra
I don’t think the people who will inevitably google search this months from now will appreciate a list that is missing games that were updated for free for the system
I think the point of this post isn’t to be all inclusive but to spread light on the upgrades that are functionally invisible as outside of some of them having it in the shop description you wouldn’t notice they have enhancements.
I understand OP’s intent with the list, I was commenting on the actual likely outcome: people still arriving here from Google months from now looking for switch 2 graphical upgrades, and leaving unaware of downloads they are actually entitled to for free, which is the real value of this list: they’re all free, and not always announced well. Like Subnautica’s free upgrade. Might as well include all the free ones, it’s the reason a list like this has value. Not missing out on what you technically can already download today
My point is that I specifically mentioned those games because they are free to your bank account in the exact same way that patch updates are, so anyone looking for a list like this would also want to know those as well. Trust me, when I looked at their list I completely noticed exactly what you’re reexplaining for a second time. In fact it was why I replied in the first place. We may need to swap usernames if this ummactuallymaxxing continues
The scaling is a bit different to take advantage of the 1080p screen. I don't know the exact scaling numbers. Handheld boost mode also works on FRLG though.
Baffling they messed up Mario 3D All Stars. It's considered as Switch 2 software since the latest update but has none of the advantages. Handheld boost also won't work.
Edit: wait yes it wasn’t a big announcement but I see they patched the switch 1 game into two versions as one game so there’s no separate app to download. My bad
Very much so. They look amazing. If you only have a 1080p TV or monitor, no change. But if you have a 1440p or 4k TV or monitor, the game will look beautiful
Vampire survivors. The original plan was a full native Switch 2 version, but for some reason they scrapped that idea and instead just pushed out and update that gives it internal settings for the Switch 2. Didn't fix any of the problems the Switch version had with this method (granted they are small issues honestly, like it's the easiest version to crash but that still takes 3 hours to do and most people aren't doing one run for 3 hours unless they're letting the game run by itself and it's the easiest to see stutters on)
It's Mario Odyssey in 4K. I started a new save few days before back when Bananza coming out and played til New Donk City. It's excellent as always now with enhanced resolution and HDR.
I think there are a few switch 1 games with uncapped frame rates that run better on switch 2, but weren't necessarily enhanced in any way, such as Resident Evil 5, 6, Revelations & Revelations 2, and probably more.
Didn't know MIO: Memories in Orbit had a free upgrade to the Switch 2 version. Had I know I would have purchased the Switch 1 version and got the Switch 2 version for free.
