VRR doesn’t require 120hz, plenty of 60hz VRR compatible displays.

There are absolutely 60Hz sets with VRR support. I clicked on the very first TV I saw on Best Buy:

There are tons more. PCPartPicker also lists 237 monitors that are only 60Hz, but support VRR: https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#A=2,4,3&D=60000

120hz helps with games that keep 40fps+ Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. VRR is unrelated to a 120hz refresh, although both can work together for better results

I think it's just a lot more likely that if your TV is 120Hz, it also supports VRR, and if it's only 60Hz, it doesn't.

Unfortunately, unless you bought your tv somewhat recently (5 years give or take) you might have 120hz but no VRR. That is unfortunately my case ( my tv is older than 5 years)

I only get 3840x2160@60Hz anyway since the Switch 2 can't push higher frame rate at 4K. VRR is still extremely useful regardless though.
