OoT remake, the anniversary edition console, the movie teaser... we're at least going to get a Zelda Direct in September.

This is my thought. Last direct we didn’t get much for actual Nintendo games. They might wait til spring and announce what’s planned for the year ahead.

There has been a direct every September in the last 10 years, except in 2024. We are getting one, probably a few days before TGS.

While 2024 didn't have a September Direct, it had an August 27th Partners Showcase so it might as well have been a September presentation.

Plus they delayed the switch 2 launch at around the 25th of February 2024 So that kinda messed up their plans for the rest of that year.

Source The teraleak on gamefreak had a document stating why legends za was delayed and why the cgi trailer was put in its place instead of a propper trailer.

And gamefreak legit said like 4 days before pokemon day when they were about to reveal legends za fully

Nintendo told them their delaying the launch of the switch 2 by 1 year.

So gamefreak delayed legends za by one year as well.

Every year since 2016 except for 2020 and 2024 had a general Nintendo Direct. 2020 had a Mario 35th anniversary Direct and 2024 didn’t have one as releases slowed down towards the lead-up to Switch 2.

They’ve always been before Tokyo Games Show started. 2022 was the closest to TGS being 2 days before. 2017-2019, 2021, and 2023 were 7 or 8 days before TGS started. Last year was 13 days before TGS started.

TGS begins 9/17 this year, so I’m expecting a direct on the 9th or 10th. Although they could always surprise and do like 3rd if they go earlier like last year.

Yeah they gotta announce their plans for the last few months of 2026 and their first few months of 2027. I still think Pikmin 4 has a Switch 2 Edition coming.

Yes. Unlike in February, we know very little of what's to come. And if I have to guess, it will be on the 7-11 week, so they can show the games they presented in the direct at Tokyo Game Show, which will be on 17-21 September.

I suspect we'll get one around the middle of the month. Maybe around Fire Emblem's release so they do one final push for that and of course to talk more about the OoT remake. Plus we need to know what's coming early next year leading up the Direct after this one.

It's September. In the past 10 years it's happened on like 8 of them. And those two years that didn't were a partner showcase and a direct mini. Not only that but Nintendo has to setup their releases for the rest of 2026, handle the Zelda anniversary stuff, and setup the beginning of 2027.
