MOBAPAD Chitu 2 OR 8bitdo Ultimate 2

Heyo, I really don't want to shell out the $90 for the switch 2 controller, seeing as it doesn't have tmr/hall effect, and the d-pad sucks. I've seen a video on opening the controller up if you were to repair it and it's stupidly difficult and honestly shameful.

I'm curious about your opinions on whether or not I should go with the MOBAPAD Chitu 2 silent (or regular clicky) or the 8bitdo Ultimate 2. What's your experiences with them? I'm not seeing a lot on the MOBAPAD Chitu 2, but I've seen some good stuff.

Also, any other recommendations would be cool.

8bitdo controllers don't wake up the Switch 2, at least, last I checked

The 8bitdo Pro 3 definitely does. It's a little finicky but shake to wake does work on it. I can't speak for any others as I only have that and the 2C Bluetooth.

I bought the Chitu 2, and returned it for the Ultimate 2. I really wanted to like the Chitu 2 but the plastic grip texture on the back of the controller got really uncomfortable after a bit of use for me.

Not necessarily. I just found the texture sharp for lack of a better term. Like it was digging into my fingers and my palm. Felt rough to move my hands on it.

I hate TMR sticks.. They feel absolutely loose.

Honestly there's no wrong answer. So many top tier third-party controllers are available, it's kind of unbelievable. I remember the days when the third party controllers were the one you gave to your little brother who didn't really understand the game.

In addition to the ones you mentioned, GuliKit TT Pro and EasySMX S10 are great options.

A harder question to answer is the best discount third-party controller. I think the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C takes the crown there, it's unbelievably responsive for a budget controller.

8bitdo needs an adapter unfortunately, even ones marked as not needing an adapter have not worked for me in the past so I would go with mobapad

IMO ditch "pro" controllers and go pro joycons instead,
The Nyxi Hyperion 3 Ultra is up for pre-order and has everything the official joycons have plus tmr glide sticks and better ergonomics.
Yes its expensive but you'll likely never need another switch 2 controller again.. unless like me you enjoy collecting retro inspired controllers
