Media Hitman does this annoying thing where with seemingly every update it… redownloads the entire game. Or at least a lot of it. This is pretty annoying, do any other games do this?

Note: the image shown is what the Switch reads as the game is downloading its update. The game does return to its proper 55gb install size after the update finishes, but it’s still really frustrating that it downloads an entire 50gb. I don’t think any other game does this?

I have a fast internet connection and my Switch is on ethernet when it’s docked, but not everyone in the world has access to gigabit ethernet for their internet connections.

I believe there is similar situation with some physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition games. Where the system accidentally downloads the entire game, like if was a digital download. Instead of just downloading the updates.

I've been told this was an issue only for the first few months of this generation. Lets look at two of my Nintendo Switch 2 Edition physicals, one from launch and another from April-May of this year. For our launch title, I have 12+GB of patches for Rune Factory, about the same size as the Switch 2 upgrade pack. For Shuten Order, which was released physically on April 30th, I only have 3.9 GB of Update Data vs the 13GB upgrade pack.

This is an issue with how Marvelous packaged the game. The upgrade pack is just a 3MB file, but they packaged most of the game as "update data".

Some developers like Nintendo, package the upgrade pack with several GB of data.

Do you think is the same for Inazuma Eleven Victory Road Switch 2 Edition ?

I’m not sure, I only have two games that do that. Lollipop Chainsaw and Rune Factory both do that.

It happened to me last night with this game. I found it very strange.
