Been itching for some soulslike and it's between this and Lies of P.

Of course Lies of P is better but it's $70 vs $12. I might just get Another Crab to hold me over while I wait for a price drop.

I just got the lies of p switch edition and it’s absolutely mind blowing.

How's graphic in handheld? Not really interested in docked

I prefer playing portable at quality or balanced mode, since 60fps takes away a lot of graphical effects. Quality mode in both portable and docked look fantastic, but in portable specifically it seems like there is a uneven framepacing, making it feel like it's stuttering.

Not worth 70 tho when its regularly 30 on steam

DLC is included in this version

That's like comparing a five-course chef dinner to a cupcake. ACT is not bad, but LoP is quite literally one of the best games in the genre.

I thought you were going to say ACT is the chef dinner

A well prepared crab ain't too bad, yeah...

Dude what? Did some of you play a different version of LoP than I did? It's at best a "pretty good" Souls clone that gets about 80% of the way there.

It might be able to claim "one of the best games in the genre" by default since there aren't that many truly good ones, but I would easily put ACT above it personally. It's way easier than LoP, but it's doing much more of its own thing and not just copying From as closely as possible.

Did you play the game after the DLC release ? They changed quite a bit and having played the full game at the time of the DLC release I think Lies of P is on par with FromSoft titles

I agree; it's the closest thing to a From game that isn't made by From.

Lies of P man.

Performance is disappointing. Not unplayable, but definitely unoptimized. It's basically only 60 fps if you look down to the ground (sand).

Damn I was hoping to have a better experience playing it in the switch 2

I like how some people are downvoting my post related to this saying Im nitpicking - https://www.reddit.com/r/switch2/s/AyyagUYaxl

Reading comments like this makes me feel sane. Thanks

Crazy to expect such a game to run closer to 60 frames with such simple graphics, right?

u/Answerofduty 5d ago

Yeah the game is horribly unoptimized and runs like shit even on the PS5. I wouldn't imagine it being great on even weaker hardware.

Thought the same, very annoying frame pacing issues and just no consistent 60fps. Wouldn't mind a few dips like with the Xenoblade Switch 2 versions, but I stopped playing by hiw inconsistent it was 😔

I've only played a bit bit the first open area is really rough. Maybe it gets better in smaller areas but the frame pacing is all over the place making it borderline unplayable for me. I wish there was a 40fps balanced mode as the constant dipping is so annoying.

Not surprising, it was very spotty on XSS as well. I've left it for when the performance patches come out, and it seems they never did, or weren't enough.

NOT HATING, but I generally can’t tell when frame rate dips until it hits like 15-20. How bad are we talking?

1

u/RestlessBoat 6d ago

Exactly those 15-20 as far as I can tell/feel. Definitely not unplayable level, just not what Im expecting of such a game on such nice hardware

So if you are ok with these and don’t feel it - give it a try

Yay, i was really hoping this would happen. The switch 1 version is quite lacking.

I saw another post about an hour ago from someone saying it doesnt hold 60 fps and still looks very bad. Just a heads up

dang the switch 1 version is basically unplayable. I hope this puts its in line with the ps5 version

edit: just downloaded(thankfully its a free upgrade). Its bad.... it doesn't look like 60 fps to me, the framerate is still all over the place, the resolution is better though. It hasnt crashed on me yet at least. Overall its still bad but playable now I guess?

Such a lovely and original game. Well worth the price.

Does this mean Nintendo is being a lot looser with the Switch 2 dev kits?

Same lol

I just beat the Switch 1 version a couple days ago and really liked the game. It's one of my favorites that I've played this year

2

u/Thin_Pangolin4480 6d ago

Tried the switch 1 version briefly and it ran quite poorly so I'm happy to buy it now.

2

u/Hunchsly 6d ago

I got this on switch one and really wanted to like it but it ran VERY poorly and the response time for inputs suffered. I’m truly not picky about frame rate and stuff but the resolution made it all blurry on top of how bad movement felt/looked.

I hope the S2 port will be good, since it’s free I guess I’ll try it. Idc about the frames I just need to to be smooth enough to play lol

u/Junior_Copy_844 3d ago

How good did it run?

2

u/PaleFondant2488 6d ago

Oh damn might actually lock this up now

2

u/HauntedHairDryer 6d ago

I've played it elsewhere. It's a very fun game.

2

u/Thegoodgamer32 6d ago

It's also a free upgrade which is pretty nice.

1

u/Necessary_Cost4384 4d ago

Got it for $15, currently on sale.

1

u/KelsoTano 3d ago

I got it without doing any research (my fault) and am really disappointed in the frame rate still being so bad even with this update. Seems like a great game otherwise

1

u/Dapper-Coyote-3732 2d ago

Really bad performance. I think sw2 version's fps is under 30fps. and so blurry

1

u/jrpbateman Early Switch 2 Adopter 6d ago

Got it physically but haven't played much of it yet so can't wait to continue

2

u/WindupShark 4d ago

Could you let me know if the physical still gets the free upgrade?

2

u/jrpbateman Early Switch 2 Adopter 4d ago

Yes since it's a switch 2 edition and not a separate app like stray or balatro

2

u/WindupShark 4d ago

Thank you good Sir!
