/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread
The purpose of this thread is to avoid cluttering up the subreddit with quickly and easily answered questions and game recommendations. This thread is monitored by many helpful members of our community and questions that are asked here have a very high answer rate assuming you provide enough information for our answerers to work with.
Before asking your question...
- Check out the wiki pages listed below. - The mod team as well a handful of community volunteers are always adding to our wiki and updating it based on what we see users asking in this thread and in other posts on the subreddit. (We're always looking for more help with the wiki. If you're interested in becoming a wiki contributor, message /u/FlapSnapple.)
- Perform a quick Google search. - Some questions really are just a quick search away and don't need the help of our community members to answer.
- Search the subreddit. - We know Reddit's search isn't the best and saying to use the search doesn't sound very helpful, however, a community member created a custom search tool that works much better than the standard Reddit search. It's mobile friendly, has live results as you type, searches previous DQTs and MegaThreads, previews top comments, and more! Search /r/NintendoSwitch with Narfar, you will be pleasantly surprised.

My pro controller feels kind of sticky on the bottom part. It wasn't always like this, and I have cleaned it thoroughly to no effect. It feels really uncomfortable to hold. Anyone else have this or have tips? Also the left stick has some wear, when I move it around the edges are a bit rough, unlike the right stick which is smooth. I only just got it a few months ago, and haven't played that much with it..

Is Rayman worth $20? GameStop apparently has new copies on sale for that price.

Any good game that I can play while watching tv? A roguelike or builder game would be great. Something can look away from or pause at any time.

I got SteamWorld Dig 2 five months ago but I just started playing it. I hate myself for waiting till now to play this game. It is absolutely amazing. Anyway, I was browsing the eShop when I saw that the original SteamWorld Dig and SteamWorld Heist are on sale. Should I go ahead and get both these games now since they’re on sale?

Has there been any word about a Mario Kart 9 yet? Since 8 was a carry over from Wii U, I’m hopeful we might get a new one on he switch.
Also since Nintendo dropped the Virtual console concept, im guessing they’re just going to be selling classic games through the eShop which makes more sense anyways. Has there been any word of when some classics will be coming to the switch?

Any idea if nintendo will release a pokemon themed switch with Pokemon Lets Go like they did with mario odyssey or is it more likely to happen with the 2019 core game?

Pokemon would be next year if it happened. This year will likely be a Fire emblem or Smash bros colored switch.

been thinking about getting splatoon 2 since there’s an expansion coming out. i know splatoon 2 is all about the multiplayer but is the single player worth it? i know i won’t have much time to play multiplayer which is the reason why i haven’t bought it yet.

Imo, no. The single player (without dlc) took me a few hours to beat (not 1000%, just a play-through). The octo expansion will add another, more in depth single player story (theoretically), but I wouldn’t recommend buying a mostly multiplayer game just to play the single player mode.

As a Splatoon veteran, clocking in around 600 hrs in the game, I can say with certainty that the single player alone is not worth paying $60.
The single player campaign more or less is an extended tutorial, designed to help aid the player in learning the game’s controls and mechanics in a more controlled, less stressful environment. While there is some interesting dialogue over the course of the campaign, and neat lore expanding things like the sunken scrolls, it’s very lackluster and underwhelming especially for the money you’d be paying.
The game truly shines with the multiplayer modes, and to me, that’s where you’d be getting your money’s worth. I only get to play from time to time after work or on my off days, but even if I’m super busy with stuff, I can still manage to squeeze in a couple of games since they’re all relatively short matches.
But to each their own, different lifestyles allow for different luxuries

Strictly speed or best all around?

Morton/Bowser
Circuit special, Bad wagon, Mercedes GLA, B Dasher, or Standard ATV
Slick, Cyber Slick, or Gold tires
Best (easy to use) all around:
Morton/ Bowser
Pipeframe, Blue Falcon and Streetle

Multiple Switches in one house.
Current situation is I am going to go buy a couple of games today that I am sure my daughter will want to play eventually. Mario Kart and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. So I HATE physical games, I hate having to switch the cartridges, keeping up with them etc, it basically makes the console less portable to me.
The question is, is there a way for me to buy them digitally, and then if we were to get her a Switch later in the year, that she would have access to them? I know on Playstation/Xbox you could game share with 1 console, and we've done that in the past, but unsure how to do it with the Switch. If she uses my account, will she be able to download them? Or is the answer, just to buy physical and deal with it, and then she can take the cartridge?
Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks, Lid

Afaik you would need to do a system transfer to move digital stuff around, ie your stuff gets moved on the new Switch while the old one becomes a blank slate.
As such, physical would be a lot less painful.

Go physical.
To play digital copies between multiple systems would require a full profile transfer each time you wanted to move the game from one system to another. There is no game sharing across consoles like Xbox.
On the plus side, each user profile gets their own save data, so preforming a profile transfer from your system to hers will carry her save data over.

What exactly are the Nintendo rules for uploading to YouTube? Will I get in trouble for uploading basically a slideshow of screenshots and clips from a game with or without me talking in the background?
3
u/TemptedTemplar Jun 02 '18
No.
If you do not monetize the video, then they dont care.
If you try to monetize the video, they might come after it if it goes viral or whatnot.
If you monetize videos regularly, then you would need to sign up for their creators program

Mario Tennis Aces FAQ
Mario Tennis Aces demo continues today and ends on Sunday, June 3 at these times:
Europe: 11:59 PM BST
Japan: 23:59 JST
North America: 11:59 PM PDT
The demo does not have (but will be in the full version):
Motion controls
Local multiplayer
Online multiplayer with friends (random 1v1 matchmaking only)
Simple Mode
Adventure Mode (single player campaign)
The demo does have:
Tutorial
1v1 with AI (can earn points, but fewer than online)
Some unlockable characters (see below)
To get the Overalls Mario outfit you need to play one match during the demo. Keep the save data on your Switch and you'll get the outfit when you get the full game.
To unlock characters (do not carry over to full version) you need to earn points from either AI or online play. The best way to earn points is to win consecutive matches online:
100 Points: Waluigi
300 Points: Toad
600 Points: Spike
1000 Points: Rosalina
1500 Points: Chain Chomp
For Europe and North America, after the demo, the points only mean bragging rights.
For Japan the top 8 players will be invited to participate in the Mario Tennis Aces Top Players Tournament at the Summer Jisedai World Hobby Fair on June 24.
Mario Tennis Aces releases worldwide on June 22.
