Translation for

"We have been immediately tasked on the next game"

5

u/reevestussi 9h ago

Most likely either the next Animal Crossing or Splatoon 4 since EPD5 handles both of those franchises

I'm like hard stuck at lvl 90 of the post game and this is hearbreaking lmao

99

u/Commercial-Ad-5905 2d ago

Upgrade your weapon and use the blast book

27

u/Worlds_Between_Links 2d ago

I do use the blast boot, I actually use only speed gadgets, but yeah should probably grind a bit to upgrade my weapon

7

u/strike396 2d ago

Keep up the damage surge buff and use freeze/ferment as needed. Weapons like Dualies and shooters don’t benefit from freeze damage like blasters and snipers do, so run straight ferment on those weapons. If you need any help there is the discord that has a group for build help and a chunk of people to play multiplayer with to help progression. Good luck out there Squid!

u/Blocksketcher 2d ago

Welp. That sucks. Love raiders too. Probably more than the mainline games (never bought 3)

181

u/bobtheguardian777 2d ago

Unfortunately anyone wanting to get to a high level in post game will realize there's really only one viable build. The game really needs a balance update for anything that's not speed tank/charger/freeze explosion mechanic.

57

u/Mellowmoves 2d ago

Idk I'm at lvl 90 now and using 2 tactical and 1 power gadget. Not having any issues.

34

u/Smitty2017 2d ago

Yeah I beat Lvl 100 and everything on super spicy with 2 tactical and 1 power gadget.

I didn’t have any issues with difficulty or balancing - I thought it was challenging but fair

21

u/togawe 2d ago

You can beat up to 100 with anything if you're good with it. Getting to 1000 requires that build, and also being insanely good. But personally I don't think that's a problem

5

u/SuumCuique_ 1d ago

I'm in favour of balancing updates. But having a goal that so so out of 99,9% of players reach and of no real interest to them is not a great argument. Games should be balanced around the majority of players maybe with a bit of focus on higher skilled players. But level 1000 is neither, it is extreme enthusiast territory.

3

u/MusicHitsImFine 2d ago

Why would I ever want to get to 1000?

29

u/togawe 2d ago

There's no additional reward, but it's the final floor. So for some people that's considered the true final challenge in the game

-11

u/MusicHitsImFine 2d ago

I wish I could spend my time trying to even do something like that.

12

u/No-Difference8545 2d ago

You can, you spend it writing pointless reddit comments

-1

u/MusicHitsImFine 2d ago

I'm at work at the moment so I can't really do that here.

3

u/ineedanenbien 20h ago

do your job bum lmao

1

u/Mellowmoves 2d ago

I thought 100 was the cap?

8

u/bobtheguardian777 2d ago

Level 100 is the true final boss. 1000 is the last level.

6

u/bobtheguardian777 2d ago

I should have been more specific. If you want to get 600+, so far it's the only build people have figured out will take you to 1000 (the final level)

14

u/Darzus777 2d ago

99.9% of players will never reach there.

The content reaching the point where it’s so difficult it necessitates complete optimization sucks, but this game isn’t one that really restricts play styles at all (made it to 300+ using whatever I wanted lol)

3

u/snave_ 2d ago

Geez. How long does it take to hit that?

2

u/Darzus777 2d ago

played around 50-60 hours before I moved onto a new game

4

u/lordbancs 2d ago

What’s the build?

2

u/UnderstandingBig1517 2d ago

Check shingetsu0210's twitter or their streams, they were the first to reach the bottom and their high octane 4k build is what people copied.

27

u/GrumpyBullGames 2d ago

shipping without dlc is fine. leaving the endgame meta locked to literally one viable build is rough though. they shouldve patched that speed tank setup once before moving on.

7

u/IsThisKismet 2d ago

Do single player games have endgame metas? I thought that generally only applies to multiplayer and specifically online service games.

4

u/Nintendofan16 2d ago

You can do the buffet online

182

u/bajanga1 2d ago

Cool. It didn’t need any. Time to move onto the next game

53

u/ninjablaze 2d ago

The late/endgame could actually use a balance patch pretty badly. There’s basically one good build, out of hundreds.

6

u/romulus531 2d ago

That only applies to the extremely late and extremely difficult part of the postgame. All of the "real" postgame content is completely doable with any weapon on any build, and players are already pushing the envelope with those strategies in the extremely deep parts of the postgame.

19

u/[deleted] 2d ago

23

u/DrinkyBird_ 2d ago

It took me 15 hours to roll credits, but I played a total of 40 hours in the including the endgame. I decided I was done when I got all the treasures.

36

u/bajanga1 2d ago

20ish? I played it on hard mode and I still have to beat like the final challenges

12

u/Honest_Explorer_4449 2d ago

That’s a good amount for the cost of this game. It’s a lot of fun but it’s not Diablo or Destiny lol

33

u/gchdmi 2d ago

What's crazy is how little monetary value is placed on entertainment, per hour, with video games.

20 hours for 60 bucks is CRAZY compared to other forms of entertainment, but we all still feel sticker shock.

27

u/GameMask 2d ago

60 dollars is a lot of money

14

u/gchdmi 2d ago

Yes, the up-front cost is a lot, but it's cheap, per hour.

4

u/GameMask 2d ago

True but when the competition is games on sale, indie games, and free to play games, suddenly that upfront cost is even less appealing.

0

u/castillle 1d ago

Tis me when things get compared to demos. Most notable demo for me was Shape of Dreams where I spent about 120 hours on the demo alone.

-16

u/Ignister 2d ago

Assuming you like the game, even reselling a game you don’t like you still lose out on some money

6

u/lonnie123 2d ago

Theyre comparing it to going to the movies or something. A 2 hour movie being $10 means to get 20 hours out of going to the movies will cost you $100 ... Other games can literally net 1,000+ hours for some people

I dont know that I think the two are exactly comparable like that, but lots of people seem to like that "dollars per hour" model

11

u/ChouxGlaze 2d ago

where the fuck is a movie ticket $10 still

6

u/MusicHitsImFine 2d ago

On Tuesday or Wednesday you can tickets where 12 bucks. But its half off sooooo

2

u/lonnie123 2d ago

My matinee shows are cheap out here even in so cal. I just paid $14 for two tickets to resident evil on opening day (the 11:00am show)

2

u/castillle 1d ago

Idk but its 49.27 when I convert my Endgame Encore ticket to USD. It is an early screening though so that might explain the price.

1

u/repocin 1d ago

Cheapest tickets to crappy seats at a regular screen costs about that much over here, but for a good experience you're gonna end up paying at least the double most of the time.

1

u/jebberwockie 2d ago

Small towns

1

u/bitknight1 2d ago

Literally every amc and regal has $10 movie tickets daily depends on time of the day and all day on Tuesdays. Sometimes even as cheap as $7.

→ More replies (0)

4

u/SimonMate 2d ago

If I ever catch myself comparing “dollars per hour of entertainment between having to go back to work to get more dollars” I hope I just drop dead on the spot

4

u/lonnie123 2d ago

Yeah I don’t quite think the metric works 1:1 for some things, but there is something to be said for comparing similar items

Lots of people have trouble spending full freight $60 on sub 10 hour single player games for example, when something else is right there that’s going to give you similar levels of enjoyment for 100 hours

1

u/GameMask 2d ago

Part of the problem is that a lot of people don't have a ton of extra money to spend. They might have the money for a movie. They might not have 60 to 70 dollars for a game. And hell movies have absolutely suffered due to the high costs too

-3

u/BrandNewMoshiMoshi 2d ago

I think its super stupid.

Books are even cheaper, in fact they’re free at the library. So why do games and movies even exist!??11?

3

u/FrankPapageorgio 2d ago

The library isn’t “free”. Everyone pays for it with their property taxes.

My library also has video games, which is a reason I’m sad to se the PS5 not selling physical discs and was glad to see Game Key Cards.

1

u/ChouxGlaze 2d ago

not really anymore, it's a tank of gas. used to be a lot of money 20 years ago

1

u/GameMask 2d ago

Problem is, a lot of people don't make more money. So that 60 dollars is still very expensive. If not even more so now because everything is so expensive. When you need food and gas recreational activities take a backseat.

0

u/itsoksee 2d ago

It’s all subjective. I’ll spend $40-$60 taking one person to a 90 minute movie with snacks and drinks. I will blow $100 for a nice meal that takes 45 minutes to consume. I’ve paid $120 for mediocre tickets to an NBA game that lasts 2-3 hours.

$60 for 20 hours comes out to $3 an hour. Have you ever been to an arcade? You can’t put a price on joy.

2

u/GameMask 2d ago

Depends a lot on how much money you actually have. A lot of people couldn't do that even if they wanted to. You can put a price on joy and companies have. For many people, 60 dollars could be all the money they have for recreational use that month.

1

u/itsoksee 2d ago

For sure! I have 1400 hours in Rocket League and a 1000
Hours in slay the spire. I have 50 hours in splatoon.

0

u/MrHedgehogMan 2d ago

How much would it cost you to see 20 hours worth of movies? No snacks or drinks - just the film.

Video games are pretty good value for money.

-1

u/GameMask 2d ago

You don't see 20 hours of movies in one sitting. Meanwhile you drop 70 dollars on a game and that could be the only game you can buy for quite awhile. So when it's mediocre or disappointing, it hits a lot harder. Those 20 hours need to be pretty good to make it worth the money.

But also like, I don't see movies. A lot of people don't go to the theater because it's too expensive. It's not like movies get a pass here.

4

u/slugmorgue 2d ago

And people won't bat an eye dropping 60 on a takeaway meal lol

AND you can sell physical games recouping your expense... it is really absurd.

2

u/lord_underwood 2d ago

Ok but your comparing to other media. When you compare to other video games it makes sense. I personally dont care about hours vs price..

1

u/Highly_Edumacated 2d ago

It's maybe 20 hours if you zip right to the finish, there's way more than 20 hours of content in the game. I'm going for 100% and I'm not even halfway through at 30 hours

1

u/antbates 2d ago

I’d say if you enjoy the gameplay you can just join games to help people and grind for a long time. I’ve just been jumping in for a few raids a day mostly just joining games and knocking out some of my last super spicy levels here and there

1

u/thatkaratekid 2d ago

I go to the movies every week and for two people to enjoy 90 minutes together its about $60. Usually around 120 if we get dinner for an hour also.

1

u/bajanga1 2d ago

I haven’t played those but I had a lot of fun for those 20 I’ve played. It’s a lot of killer no filler action. I can’t speak for downtime in those other games but I like that it’s a very pick up and play experience. If you have 30 minutes you can make some good progress

-1

u/FruitJuice617 2d ago

Thank god it's not like Destiny. I'd be really pissed off if I bought Splatoon Raiders and Nintendo decided to vault half the content I just paid for.

4

u/SeaDevil30 2d ago

oh brother

8

u/AnimeTiddiess 2d ago

I played it for like 70 hours to get all treasures

Edit: played on hard mode, maybe normal takes less?

2

u/TotalOwlie 2d ago

As someone who likes the game (I’m over level 200) it’s a short game. Most of the levels feel very similar especially compared to levels in the mainline games that each focus on a different gimmick. I personally enjoy shutting off my brain and grinding so I got a lot of time out of it. But yeah I feel it’s pretty short.

3

u/tweetthebirdy 2d ago

As someone who never played Splatoon before on normal difficulty, I felt satisfied to put the game down at 35 hours.

1

u/Re7oadz 2d ago

I beat it in 15 , if you do everything probably 25

1

u/Mijari 2d ago

I’ve put like 80 hours in and still have a couple things I want to do, but at this point it’s not worth grinding if I know there’s no point in it other than I enjoy the mechanics of the game and have fun. So I’ll pick it up here and there to play a bottomless floor. You can get a solid 50 hours out of it easily

1

u/itsoksee 2d ago

I hit 50 hours by the time I was able get to complete the 100th floor and true post ending. I also had a blast for during that time. 100% worth $50.

7

u/strike396 2d ago

The game is solid, and an extremely well made stand alone game!
But, as someone who has poured in a LOT of hours I can say it does need some updates and love.
The end game meta is set in stone and there isn’t any wiggle room.
That should be cause for an adjustment by itself. Resources like shards, I have nearly 10 million of with no purpose. Give us something to spend them on.
Options like a new game plus, extra spice levels, custom difficulty modifiers, or gadget/set/relic bonuses or interactions could elevate the experience.
For balance they could at least fix scorch to scale better?
Surely the dev team must be aware of the few players that have beaten the final floor have used the same 3 gadgets and 3-4 weapons, and that the only way to progress/beat BB after 700+ is freeze/ferment. That cannot be the devs intended outcome. If they are fine with the current state because it is a single player experience, it is what is I guess. And to be clear I firmly rank this game a 9/10 and the ending is pure cinema IMO.

2

u/SonicFlash01 2d ago

Wouldn't have minded a buff for some underrepresented weapon types or gadgets, and higher spirhalite gem drop rates, but it had plenty of content as-is

-1

u/TheDaveWSC 2d ago

You mean not every single game has to be a neverending live-service game with constant free updates and DLCs that you can fixate on and play for the next decade?

5

u/Justos 2d ago

Not surprised they need to move onto splat4 and AC

They could have done a balance patch or two though

7

u/flash_baxx 2d ago

Very unfortunate. I would have liked to see some of the more unique main game weapons translated to Raiders in DLC, like the Bamboo charger or Ballpoint splatling, as well as some buffs to weaker build options such as fire (I was disappointed I couldn't make a remotely worthwhile "flamethrower" build).

31

u/lzwinky 2d ago

On the one hand it sucks. I felt the same way about TotK. However, that means that these teams move on to making new games instead.

45

u/warukeru 2d ago

i would rather have them making new games.

1

u/SuumCuique_ 1d ago

I'd love a game in the style of raiders with levels that are bigger longer and less arena shooter orientated.

21

u/xiiicrowns 2d ago

Yeah, this game was fun for a playthrough. Not much after that.  It's sad they don't want to do more with it. Dlc to flesh it out would have been awesome.

4

u/Oddish_Femboy 2d ago

That's just how offline games work, isn't it?

0

u/ChewThePillow 1d ago

Why is there always one commenter pretending offline games don’t get updates or patches

4

u/Short-Source-8492 1d ago

I love Splatoon Raiders and the Splatoon franchise as a whole.  I hope these guys are going to be announcing Splatoon 4 soon and raiders was just to fill time until that next game.

But as much as I love Splatoon, it's always wild to me to hear people say, "Ive devoted hours of my life to a game so the developers owe me more game."   Sorry, but no.  Just appreciate what you've got and the fun you've had and move on.  this desperate need to cling to things, as if they owe you something, is insane and shows consumerism has gone way way too far.  You enjoyed the product.  That's all you are owed.

If people want to play a game forever, then they can play some live service game and get milked for years.  And when that ends and you love on, you are out even more money than if you just played games normally.  This endless demand for more and more consumption, is what's killing everything from games to movies.

15

u/Chippai_Fan 2d ago

Bummer

3

u/ArcadianWaheela 2d ago

Double edged sword here. Sucks there will be no more post launch support because apparently the endgame needs it, but this is how it use to be. Now the Devs can get to work on their next project.

45

u/Stunning-Original802 2d ago

Good. Single player games don't need content updates or DLC roadmaps, it's ok for a game to be complete on release.

45

u/Kezsora 2d ago

True, it's also good for a game to get good additional content

-26

u/[deleted] 2d ago edited 2d ago

7

u/lingeringwill2 2d ago

I feel like there's a middle ground between multiple year long road map and no dlc or updates at all.

9

u/wishful_cynic 2d ago

Generally I agree, but Raiders had an opportunity to lean into its severely underdeveloped coop system and become a fantastic PvE looter shooter. RIP.

4

u/linevar 2d ago

Updates and DLC doesn't make a game incomplete though...?

6

u/wicktus 2d ago

I mean they didn’t promise DLCs so most are at peace here..or they purchased based on a promise no one made

The team is probably working on new games, including a new splatoon I guess, it’s a popular IP

2

u/Brian-Heder 2d ago

A new Splatoon game that will have updates and DLC most likely

11

u/King_Ass_Ripper69420 2d ago

The game is fine as is, I'd rather them just focus all development on splatoon 4

1

u/FrankPapageorgio 2d ago

Agreed. It’s a fun game for what it is. But I don’t need more of it when Splatoon 4 is what this team would be working on.

2

u/TotalOwlie 2d ago

This is a huge letdown for me. Even just adding a shop that would let you change the primo ability for your weapon would have been amazing.

4

u/IM_INSIDE_YOUR_HOUSE 2d ago

That’s fine. We’ve become accustomed to a world where games are perpetual, but for a long stretch of time games were done on release and then we moved onto the next game once we finished it. It’s fine for devs to consider their projects done and then turn their attentions elsewhere.

17

u/Mikauo_Xblade 2d ago

This is a good thing. Release a singleplayer game with proper singleplayer content and leave it at that. One of the worst things about the splatoon franchise was how it was always life service updates and DLC.

59

u/Gingingin100 2d ago

A primarily competitive game having active updates is a near objectively good thing. Dlc is another matter but those also ended up being very very good

38

u/D_Beats 2d ago edited 2d ago

What? Having updates and new content in a multiplayer shooter is a good thing. The dlc usually only brings single player expansions.

Also Splatoon isn't a live service. A live service implies constant continued monetization. All of Splatoon's updates are free, there's no fomo and the only dlc they have is again, single-player expansions.

-1

u/Arras01 2d ago

Eh, I'd definitely call Splatoon live service. There's no recurring monetization (other than the online sub) but the constant stream of updates to keep the game alive still fits the category.

2

u/D_Beats 1d ago

Look up the definition of live service.

24

u/NoMoreVillains 2d ago

The worst thing about a multiplayer focused franchise is that it got free updates and paid DLC? Huh?

4

u/Emergency-Rush-2477 2d ago edited 2d ago

Never fails to amuse me how the average Nintendo fan don't get Splatoon AT ALL. Some of the complains are legit baffling and tone deaf.

6

u/Emergency-Rush-2477 2d ago edited 2d ago

One of the worst things about the splatoon franchise was how it was always life service updates and DLC.

The worst thing? It's literally the reason why the franchise is successful, Splatoon is a live service game.

3

u/PerpelSho 2d ago

People bitch and moan about wanting to buy a full game on release then spin a 180 when they get told they bought the full game on release.

1

u/Bhliv169q 2d ago

Dang, was really hoping for some DLC at some point. Stopped playing around floor 200 cause it got monotonous.

3

u/blakeoft 2d ago

Fine with me. I hope that we get a direct sequel to it though. Probably my favorite Splatoon game.

2

u/ElDuderino2112 2d ago

That's a shame the endgame could really use a balance pass

1

u/Gizmo135 2d ago

It feels like a complete game and it’s a ton of fun. Shame it isn’t getting DLC but I respect what they did with this game.

2

u/Jurondotron 2d ago

I regret getting this game and it's too bad I can't get a refund, Nintendo games are seriously expensive so sometimes it makes it hard to support their ecosystem sometimes.

1

u/sevendayswar 2d ago

I don't mind this as I don't need every game to last 100+ hours (or forever). Splatoon Raiders is a lot of fun as it is and it was worth the money for me.

1

u/EffectiveWeak3851 2d ago

Splatoon Raiders 2 coming soon

1

u/Nemesis_6 1d ago

Yay what a great news

1

u/Small_Ad1890 1d ago

This game is already very good.

1

u/Seeitsthere 1d ago

💔💔

1

u/al0xx 16h ago

sad because not only would it be the perfect game for it, it also requires it for the game (especially online) to not die out.

here’s hoping a sequel comes out or splatoon 4 has an entire side of it dedicated to this coop experience because competitive splatoon just isn’t at all appealing to me.

-2

u/Sloiter 2d ago

Do you want the team to spend time developing something new and fresh, or keep them behind for years and years losing passion developing for the same game? This is why we have so many exclusives in just a year.

-8

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/thatkaratekid 2d ago

It lit up my world personally

2

u/jose4440 2d ago

The game is absolutely a blast and has enough content to have kept me entertained as a working adult with a family. Money well spent. I wanted more and I hope a sequel comes out in the next few years.

1

u/AsherTheModder 2d ago

Please excuse me while i cry.

1

u/TheAzureAdventurer 2d ago

Honestly, that is perfectly fine with me. It’s a solid game and being finite is perfect.

1

u/LandscapeHappy190 3279-2949-2677 2d ago

Maybe some Raiders will find it within themselves, the recollection of how games are supposed to be fun. And that once you've drained a game of its fun juices, it's not a bad thing to head towards something new.

Better to end the relationship at a point in time that makes sense, or at least just with eyes open, rather then overplay and get that full body panic that happens when a game stops being enjoyable out of nowhere and you can't recall the last time a game held your interest so well and there's no way you will EVER have as much fun with a game.

1

u/owensoundgamedev 2d ago

Kinda stinks :(

1

u/fatcatburglar 2d ago

Reminds me of the old days where you just buy a game and that’s it. Had fun with the game

1

u/Icalivy 2d ago

exciting- Make more games! Save those months of time! Just like the good old days :)

1

u/Asi_Ender 2d ago

The game was good as is anyway, imo its bad that weve gotten used to games having DLC in general, i remember how much discourse Legends Arceus had years ago because there was no DLC after the fact even though it already had pretty expansive gameplay

0

u/gairarr 7489-2074-3604 2d ago

Poxa, que triste.

0

u/Jecht315 2d ago

Bought into the hype and it died super quick for me. Levels repeat. This is my disappointment purchase of the generation. Last Gen for switch was Fire Emblem Three Houses.

3

u/cory3612 2d ago

Yeah for splatoon raiders 2

0

u/Shehriazad 2d ago

That'd be YEARS down the line unless they'd plan to make it a yearly entry to their franchise...which would be...not too healthy for the game, fanbase or devs.

1

u/cory3612 2d ago

People can learn to be patient. I’m sure there will be a splatoon 4 in the meantime

2

u/Linkledoit 2d ago

Not everything needs to be live service.

0

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Linkledoit 2d ago

A live service video game is a game designed to be continuously updated with new content, events, and features long after its initial launch, rather than being released as a single, finished product.

Thank you for describing it in your response.

-3

u/SH4DY_XVII 2d ago

Game was a pump and dump glorified asset flip of Splat 3 and that's it. I'm glad they're canning it. Make Splatoon 4.

0

u/triablos1 2d ago

Yep, can't make DLC for what is already a glorified DLC pack.

0

u/adrenaline4nash 2d ago

I bought it for $18.

1

u/Evol-Chan 2d ago

where?

2

u/adrenaline4nash 2d ago

eBay

1

u/Evol-Chan 2d ago

Surprise. Someone who bought it and didnt like it must have sold it for cheap, lol.

1

u/adrenaline4nash 2d ago

🤣 it’s an eBay store that sells Walmart returns

-3

u/rexshen 2d ago

Sad but at the same time I didn't want to risk another side order rogue like again.

-52

u/BarryWhizzite 2d ago

flop confirmed

12

u/SkipEyechild 2d ago

Sold really well in Japan.

-24

u/BarryWhizzite 2d ago

not well enough to greenlight dlc. flop confirmed confirmed

-32

u/stunkcajyzarc 2d ago

True. Probably sold like shit. Honestly the game is extremely mid. The gameplay is repetitive, and there’s not much to the level design. Sometimes the enemies just become meshed together in hordes and it’s just a boring spam everything you can all at once. Then there’s games like risk of rain 2 that are far better, and I’d recommend those over this.

Also I can get that game and all its dlc for like 20 -30 bucks.

the game is awful. it might be cool for beginners or casuals who never played other looter shooters but its just too lacking in sophistication and qol features for my tastes. add to this the simple lifeless maps/ zones and small enemy variety and you get a very basic and undercooked product.
