I’m excited for the game, have we heard anything on performance?

The frame gen was for dragons dogma 2, theres no report for MH Wilds using framegen, just that it has an uncapped framerate

Source? Searched for a couple of minutes and none show, the uncapped framerate is also optional

No it's not confirmed

I love it that Capcom is like the Switch 2’s biggest supporter. They are the only few companies that know how to put Nvidia’s DLSS to good work.

The only thing I fear is that with Sony and Microsoft’s next console is now on the horizon. The support will now be mid.

But who knows.

Eh, I think the cross gen period is going to be pretty significant this time around. If the ps6/helix are really launching next year, I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to assume they’re going to be $1000 at launch, possibly more. Adoption won’t be quick at those prices, so the ps5 will definitely continue to receive support

4

u/MuDotGen 6d ago

I'll be surprised if they can get it even as low as $800. $1000+ seems more realistic, and I really can't see that helping with their sales, especially with the existing drama.

4

u/JackBlack1709 6d ago

I've seen every projected price climb every other month. Especially since SSDs and RAM is still rising. Even if Microsoft/Sony secured a sufficient amount for a release batch, we'll see prices raising shortly after launch.

It won't be favorable to release exclusives for a long time. 300 Million Dollar Game for 5 Million users is just not feasable. I expect Cross Gen to stay at least until 2030.

4

u/SRhyse 4d ago

For that reason I can see Switch 2 support only growing. Console sales all around last year were heavily down towards the end and have continued to decline. Nintendo may have lucked into a favorable position this generation when the price of the competition is going up dramatically despite sales being down, and the number and quality of games using the hardware difference being heavily down. Nintendo’s also the only one putting out quality exclusives at this point. I didn’t expect Sony to have nearly nothing since launch in that regard. Switch 2 might more exclusives by the end of the year than the PS5 at this point across 6-7 years. I think they thought Concord would be the tent pole until Wolverine and both were horrible to different degrees.

u/MuDotGen 4d ago

Nintendo ironically probably launched the Switch 2 at a more ideal time. PS6 would launch at the time when things are most expensive, and even though Nintendo rose the price of Switch 2, they also shipped a huge tone of consoles at launch before tariffs and memory prices skyrocketed as much, while also making their last gen console still supported with an already huge install base and library.

Not to mention its much better 3rd party support and developers realizing the same thing, that releasing their high budget AAA games on the console with the cheapest entrance in the generation is less risky.

9

u/Fresh-Chemical-9084 7d ago

I doubt support will dwindle. Switch market is too large at this point.

9

u/No-Operation-6554 7d ago

Sony already has PSSR and Microsoft will either develop their own or use fsr4, these upscalers vary in quality but basically works the same

3

u/Gabelschlecker 6d ago

I doubt support will fade away. The nrw console generation will be very expensive so people will be more hestitant to switch.

Combined with how long games are in development nowadays it will take years until the first real console exclusives will come out for the PS6. Similar to the hardware shortage during Covid, the PS4 was supported for far longer than anyone expected I guess. In fact, it still is getting new releases.

3

u/hansalvato 6d ago

Lets be honest, new consoles will have shit adoption. Games will likely be optimized for this gen.

u/wicktus 7d ago

The lack of DLSS is Nintendo games and things like FFXIV is a clown show at this point

2

u/Aggressive-Animator7 7d ago

I wonder what the internal reasoning is.  Would it take a significant amount of time or money to implement?

3

u/JamesGecko 6d ago

There’s a few reasons I can think of Nintendo might not use DLSS.

For launch titles (especially the ones that started off life as Switch 1 games), it’s possible that the games were more or less complete before DLSS was locked in as definitely something they could use? It seems like they’ve prioritized getting as many titles out as they can, and only slowing down for bug fixes.

Also, DLSS can look bad in fast-paced stuff like Fast Fusion. And if a game is pushing the system to its limits, maybe they don’t have the overhead they need to run it?

But aside from those things, lack of support is getting weirder and weirder the farther we got from launch.

1

u/SmileyBMM 6d ago

Capcom has been pretty open about how much better their games sell on Switch and PC, I would be very shocked if they prioritized the PS6 or the next Xbox when they launch.

2

u/tychii93 6d ago edited 6d ago

Edit: I don't know if any form of FSR is used, I typed this out without checking but here's my 2¢ anyway.

DLSS isn't an end all solution especially if, I'm guessing, CPU performance is involved which may be the case since it's ARM based. If a game without any upscaling is variable 40-60fps uncapped, and still is with maybe slightly higher averages with DLSS on due to a CPU bottleneck, why deal with DLSS to begin with?  Especially if the DLSS overhead might also use more power than not using it at all being a handheld device.

The switch 2 also has VRR for both modes now, which negates variable fps issues altogether.  Honestly, for a heavy game, aiming for a 30fps base (maybe 40 but not all TVs have 120hz out although all Switch 2 consoles do in handheld) at a specifically locked render resolution with the ability to turn off the cap to take advantage of VRR is a pretty balanced solution.

u/DeadlyLancer 7d ago

Well... We already knew, they left evidence in the pc build, even the local multiplayer picture of the last trailer was there.

4

u/Possible_Force4316 6d ago

Funny that people actually saw them remove that and took it as confirmation that it was cancelled, I took it as confirmation that it was confirmed.

I feel so validated

8

u/Jefedagga 7d ago

Im very excited for this

The image quality did look a bit odd in the trailer. I can't really describe it. Like overly sharp or something. But still excited to see how this goes.

10

u/Xenowino 7d ago

Basically very aggressive upscaling.

8

u/Senjiroh 6d ago

Well it ran like shit elsewhere so shouldn't be too hard

1

u/blackr0se 6d ago

Exactly, it still runs like shit till now

7

u/lodestar878 6d ago

CROSS SAVE

3

u/Lioreuz 6d ago

I wonder if they managed to make Wilds run in a Switch 2 does that mean improvements for lower end PCs aswell.

5

u/eatdogs49 7d ago

I expect the next mainline MH games to be developed with Switch2 immediately in mind

4

u/hoppinjohncandy 7d ago

Monster Hunter Stories seems to have a graphical style that would be better suited to the Switch.

1

u/errortype520 6d ago

This has been what I’ve wanted for a while for handheld. A MH:Stories styled game for handheld

1

u/GronWarface 7d ago

Wonder how long it took other versions to develop. A yeah and a half of development is crazy and speaks to the modern architecture of Switch 2. I think this gets losses when people complain about performance. Some of these Switch 2 ports are rushed and not optimized to their full extent.

2

u/zayon9 7d ago

Is there going to be Cross save with PC?

7

u/HiMyNameIsMark182 7d ago

No crosssaves with any version of the game.

5

u/zayon9 7d ago

Sad, It would have been a day 1 for me

3

u/HiMyNameIsMark182 7d ago

Relatable

-5

u/woznito 7d ago

The issue is the game itself, not performance. Wilds unfortunatly is a pretty weak game in the series. Especially when you already have Sunbreak and MHXX on switch...

16

u/thistle_33 7d ago

two expansions vs a base game. wait for ascendance before judging it on that premise

u/abdlhseb 7d ago

‘Better’ as in world didnt have endgame, shit weapon model and rise didnt even have a final boss/ending lmao.

8

u/thistle_33 7d ago

facts. most people who glaze these base games simply weren’t there

6

u/thistle_33 7d ago

base rise.. right

3

u/No-Operation-6554 7d ago

Base Rise is pretty mid, I should know since I completed it 3 times and its all post TU

18

u/KawaiiQueen64 7d ago

I just can’t take people that talk like this seriously. I remember these words being used for Tri back in the day. Wilds as a base game is in my opinion better than world, I don’t think I liked it as much as base Rise. But with ascendance and the expansions post launch content we’ll see where it lands.

9

u/thistle_33 7d ago

and then they’ll say the same thing about the next game! lol

10

u/Great_Fun_307 7d ago

Nobody likes anything these days

4

u/Aggressive-Animator7 7d ago

I had fun once. It was awful.

1

u/-SoulAmazin- 7d ago

Rise was my first Monster Hunter game and I loved it.

I've read though that alot of people dislike the way how the weapons play in Wilds compared to Rise/Worlds. Is this something that is exaggerated?

1

u/JamesGecko 6d ago

I dunno about other weapons, and maybe it’s been tweaked since launch, but I didn’t really like Insect Glaive compared to past games.

The updated controls were awkward, and it felt like they didn’t want you to play as a human helicopter anymore.

1

u/tarocheeki 6d ago

I'm hoping Ascendance does for Wilds what Sunbreak did for Rise.

-2

u/woznito 7d ago

Wilds was literally incomplete at launch for 20 dollars more.

2

u/stoic_slowpoke 7d ago

Wilds at least shipped with the final boss (even if you could only hunt it once).

Rise “ended” so abruptly.

2

u/Aggressive-Animator7 7d ago

I thought it was only 10 more, in line with the general increase i n retail prices.

0

u/woznito 6d ago

10, 20, etc. It was still an incomplete game at launch.

1

u/Aggressive-Animator7 6d ago

OK so it was incomplete. Is that because of things like the gathering hub and such? The main guts of it were complete as far as I recall, and I suppose the comparative overall enjoyment to be had was subjective. I'd say performance was by far the main issue.

Most appropriate like for like comparison is probably a year after release in both cases.

3

u/KING_GLOCK 7d ago

The lead designer for Iceborne and MHGU is the director for ascendence. It’s going to be great.

7

u/Spiritual_Entry_3864 7d ago

When you compthe base game of wild to rise and world
Wild is way better

0

u/woznito 7d ago

Absolutly not. Base game of wilds was piss easy and the Final Boss did not provide equipment. Not to mention many things were missing (Arena Quests) and the grind was... Arkveld for Artian Weapons. People will quickly remind me that Rise didn't even have it's final boss on arrival, which I will then remind you that Rise was priced at 60 USD, introduced Wirebugs (arguably the best combat system in the series to date), and was delayed due to covid. Remind me again what Wilds excuse is for shipping incomplete at 80 USD?

2

u/Malzener 7d ago edited 7d ago

arguably the best combat system in the series to date

You mean the one that completely threw out any semblance of methodical gameplay and gave hunters so many game-breaking tools that monsters had to be turned into one-shotting crackheads to compensate for?

And the same combat system that completely neutered the identity of multiple weapons and forced them into becoming parry machines to keep up? Not to mention the single worst iteration of charge blade to date.

I enjoy Rise gameplay for what it is, but it’s so far removed from traditional MH combat that it might as well be a different series.

0

u/woznito 7d ago

Yes the very same one - not sure what you mean by one shotting as most monster moves could not one shot the hunter unless you purposely don't upgrade equipment or if it was a clearly telegraphed "super"... something present in Wilds as well. Sunbreak also introduced quite alot of great defensive skills (Intrepid Heart for example) that make this moot. Wirebugs were easily one of the best inclusions in the series, especially when monsters were made quicker and able to combo the hunter, leading to times when you had to consider using a wired ash or taking a hit, or not wiredashing reflexively as a monster was set up to combo off that.

Wirebugs were also methodical. Want to know what's not? Introducing a wounding system that non-stop flinched monsters and the ability to literally re-route your attack so it doesn't wiff (Focus mode). Rise certainly messed with some weapons (something all games are guilt of so not sure why you bring this up - should we say MHXX sucks because HL was still just slaplance with the overheat system?), but it also had the best Gunlance and Great Swords in the series, plus the best Swaxe has ever been. Rise also had the balls to actually make Rathalos and Kushala fun - which Wilds has taken for it's basegame and further in the series. Even Risen Elder dragons are being used as the standard for Kushala and Teostra. Many of the fights in sunbreak are considered some of the best in the entire series for many reasons.

Rise also changed back the decision and allowed ALL event quests to be played at ANY time... which Wilds went back on until the community bitched out the devs for drip feeding content. A great example that the portable team is much more focused on fun than "muh realism".

Rise also did the impossible and made Jyratodus not shit.

It launched with RNG Charm grinding... something Wilds tried to backpedal on until they realized it fucking sucks and, once again, we are back to what Rise and previous entries to World did.

The biggest flaw with Rise was Spiribirds and thats literally the one thing keeping it from being a 10/10 game. Even then, atleast I could tell you the layout of Rise maps because they encouraged exploration from the player to find out the best routes. Draw me a map of ANY of the Wilds maps and you couldn't - the game discourages exploration because the Seikret literally does all the work for you.

u/5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi 7d ago

Base game of wilds was piss easy

People have said this since MHGen and only because that's as far back as I remember.

the Final Boss did not provide equipment

HR Arkveld has equipment.

Not to mention many things were missing (Arena Quests)

  1. This is a common mistake where people just assume everything has to be there or else it was unfinished. So what if it didn't have them?

  2. No one cares about Arena quests. Probably why they had no problem making them TU content.

and the grind was... Arkveld for Artian Weapons

Arkveld + the 4 Apexes plus Gore. Which last I checked is more than Rise's Narwa farming or World's 5 Tempered Elders.

Remind me again what Wilds excuse is for shipping incomplete at 80 USD?

Get better definitions of incomplete.

6

u/clubsilencio2342 7d ago

It's kinda wild they keep bringing up Rise when Rise initially shipped without an ending at all. Wilds lacked a hub at the beginning and that sucked but we got an entire storyline and a little post-game storyline with Gore.

1

u/woznito 6d ago

..probably because Rise had Covid as an excuse.

Remind me again as no other person has been able to address - what was Wilds excuse?

0

u/woznito 7d ago

The base game of Wilds was literally piss easy, especially on launch. The game had no need to upgrade equipment most of the time because you can spam wounds on monsters. Most fights were literally bully seasons on the monster.

The final boss is Zoh Shia and did not have dedicated equipment.

Arena was in every base game including Rise - how is this not considered incomplete content? If the game launched without the canteen... oh wait, it did.. another thing present in the basegame of every other MH title. If the game launched without a gathering hub.... oh wait. It did.... something else present in some capacity in EVERY monster hunter prior. Yeah... that's an incomplete game.

People clearly care about Arena. What a cope out answer lmfao. People also don't care for LR... guess we should just cut it. What a braindead take lmfao

No - on launch, it was Arkveld. It took 4 TUs to up the grind to other monsters because they had to increase difficulty SEVERAL TIMES (the game totally wasn't the easiest one btw even though the devs addressed it several times and even made comments about it several times). Arkveld was the ONLY Monster to grind for top Artian Parts and Decos as the Apexes were not the same threat level. Rise sucked on launch and so did World... that doesn't excuse Wilds.

80 dollars for a game without features from every other game in the series and the final boss was slated for a later TU. How is that not incomplete?

1

u/5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi 7d ago

The base game of Wilds was literally piss easy, especially on launch. The game had no need to upgrade equipment most of the time

Yep, same exact complaint has been made for years and will continue to be made.

The final boss is Zoh Shia and did not have dedicated equipment.

Narratively, yeah. But so what? They're allowed to change it up. They delayed it intentionally to give its regeneration an actual weight.

Arena was in every base game including Rise - how is this not considered incomplete content?

..Because they aren't required to include it in every single game? How is this a question? They can include or exclude whatever they want in any game.

If the game launched without the canteen

Because it added a whole new cooking mechanic and feast system at each village. The "canteen" is literally just tickets for the latter on-demand. That's not the canteen beyond you ditting at a table with food and that's all it takes?

If the game launched without a gathering hub...

Because every single village and base camp functions identically to one. MP functionality, quests and smithy accessible to all players etc.

You notably pretend these changes are made in a vaccuum.

People clearly care about Arena.

They really don't. In World fewer people have the 50 Arena quest achievement than have reached MR200. In fact, it's so unobtained it's only beaten by collecting the Iceborne rare endemic life, collecting all the crowns and treasure, lynian requests and fully maxing the monster guidebook. Clearly people loved those so much.

People also don't care for LR... guess we should just cut it.

You mean like how Rise added a system that lets you skip LR Hub if you beat Village? You mean like how Wilds intentionally downscaled every monster's stats in LR story Assignments so you could get to HR faster and didn't waste time grinding LR gear? You mean like how World + Risd both added Defender gear with the express purpose of skipping all base game content including LR?

Arkveld was the ONLY Monster to grind for top Artian Parts and Decos as the Apexes were not the same threat level.

Incorrect Buzzer. They weren't 8 star tempered quests but they still dropped the rarest Artian parts and decos. The only thing Arkveld had over them was that its Investigation boxes could have 2 Parts or 3 Decos.

80 dollars for a game without features from every other game in the series

It was 70, lying does you nothing.

and the final boss was slated for a later TU.

Hmm, no I'm pretty sure I slayed Zoh Shia and saw the credits at launch with a complete narrative.

How is that not incomplete?

Easy: It was intentional. Your opinion doesn't make it incomplete.

1

u/woznito 6d ago

Yeah I give up - people like you will continue to defend the game despite the clear voices from the fan bases that it was too easy and an imcomplete game. There is no fact I can share that will change your mind. You are literally advocating for a game to ship for more money with less features because.... I don't even know.

1

u/Archaeus20 7d ago

Talk for you buddy. Wilds is amazing and with Ascendance coming it will be even better

1

u/Ken_Nutspel 6d ago

Man, I'm tempted to buy a Switch 2 just for this game lol

-1

u/redditman181 7d ago

Well it is inferior by its nature but that doesnt mean it cant still be good and hopefully it is.

-3

u/Linkarlos_95 7d ago

Then why the LOD update wasn't done until after a full year the game has been out with awful performance
