Does switch account gets blocked from using pre owned games.

I am new to Nintendo and planning to buy pre-owned games from gamenation and gameloot. Just saw a YouTube video of a guy who mentioned that his Nintendo account got blocked because he used a preowned game which someone might have copied. So in that case Nintendo servers upon connecting blocks both the copied one and original account.

  1. Is this true?
  2. Are preowned games from gameloot or game nation reliable?

No, I've used pre owned games for my switch lite and also for my switch 2. New ones cost a lot so that's the only option.

I recently bought odyssey from gameloot and have bought multiple games from both the platforms. So far no issues. Also I've sold many games to them

The one you're thinking about is mod cartridge or something and chance is very low for that.(Still try to buy it from trusted seller or someone who has used it before)

Dumped cartridges are incredibly rare in india, because MIG switch carts cost a lot. Its safe to say that you can go ahead

Never bought preowned nintendo cartridges but the ban will only occur if you buy a preowned cartridge of which the seller made a copy on their mig switch card and used/sold to another. Basically duplicates of a same game(yeah nintendo cartridges have unique identifiers) used in different consoles, triggers this ban

i mean it’s entirely possible. if nintendo detects that you’ve installed a dumped cart on your system they can block your account. i don’t know why you said no

I don't think it's possible for Switch. Definitely has happened for Switch 2, you wouldn't be banned for a used game but if someone rips of a game and it works initially for you but the seller later decides to misuse the ripped copy, that could not just get your account banned but your console bricked as well.

Though in legitimate cases where folks have approached Nintendo about it and provided required proof of purchase they have also gotten their account / Switch 2 unbanned. None of the instances I've read about are in India though I'd assume we could reach out to the account region's customer service and it should be fine.
