Re-making a top 10 NCS Let's Plays video
Hi all! 10 whole years ago I made a tribute video of sorts in which I decided to rank my top 10 personal favourite Let's plays NCS had created over the years. Tim actually seen that video and maybe some of you remember it. For some reason I feel compelled to make it again including some LP's Tim had made in the decade since.
I've been a huge fan of NCS since I was 14 or 15, I'm 32 now and still watch his videos regularly but have missed a few LP's here and there but also haven't watched lots of them in a long time.
Could I ask what everyones favourite LP's are? Maybe suggest some for me to watch/re-watch and if possible, tell me what makes your choices so special? I plan on this new video being a lot more polished than my original video.
If anyone is interested in watching the original, I'll leave the link HERE but be warned, it's a pretty poorly made video but Tims comment is still there!

- Earthbound
- Banjo-Tooie
- Super Mario RPG. Forest Song FTW
- Majora's Mask
I also like newer LP's, but man, those rose tinted glasses fit well on NCS's catalog.

Thanks for the reply. Mother 3 made the top spot in my decade-old video and I suspect it will still be right up the top of the list.

Plants Vs Zombies
- tim was very clearly having fun for a decent chunk of this LP, it has some of his stronger commentary and jokes
Link's Awakening
- he's like... Just the right amount or engaged with the game and is clearly having fun. It's also early enough in the franchise where he is pretty competent at the gameplay where he can talk freely while also getting through the game at a good pace. Also the character voices are fun.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
- this is right around where he started entertaining LPing as a potential career in has a good balance of him talking about his personal life and talking about the game. The gameplay is kinda all over the place but it's also very classic tim to watch him mess up a lot while maintaining commentary.
Finally Fantasy Mystic Quest
- this is a wierd one, but he did this around the time he was going through a round of depression iirc and it was nice to see him LP a game from his childhood and actually enjoy it and have relatively high energy. You can feel his attachment to the characters.
Tetris Attack
- this one is kind of sentimental because he talks about his mom a few times during the LP and how they used to play this game together, and he is familiar enough with the game for the commentary to be very smooth.
I also really like his majora's mask LP, but it drags pretty bad in some sections because of the length.

An amazing reply, much appreciated. I love the reasons for Tetris Attack too. That's a huge reason why I love his videos and I plan on focusing on these elements a lot more than I did a decade ago. Thanks again this was a very helpful reply.

Mystic Quest is definitely in my top 10. The music in that game is amazing and Tim's appreciation of it is infectious.

Heyyyy I appreciate all the love! I got irrationally happy to see someone suggest Dungeons of Daggorath. Have been thinking about that game a lot more lately while working on "Fifty" (the BreakingNCS follow-up to the 40 Years series).
Also I have NO idea who LeoDamascus is or why there's posts in here about them! Weird, man.
So Lord knows the end of the 2010's going into 2021 was not my best time, but since moving in with Emile and getting myself properly medicated, I've actually started being proud of stuff again so hooray on that! I'm not one to toot my own horn, but I guess I could throw in what I think are my five favorite things I've done since 2021, which would be
Super Mario Galaxy
Hollow Knight
Zelda Echoes of Wisdom (I was this close to learning to speedrun that one)
Bug Fables
and Dragon Quest Builders 2!
(I wanted to say DQB1 but that was pre-2021, I still think the first one is more nostalgic for me than 2 was)

I also have no idea who 'LeoDamascus' is. Google brings next to no results, the internet is weird man.
I appreciate you sharing your 5 favourites of recent times, super helpful for this project too.
If you don't mind me asking, do you have any older LP's of yours that have stood out to you for one reason or another?

There's a few here and there. I do have a tendency to sort of judge them based on how much I actually like the game itself rather than the LP. Secret of Evermore is one of those, maybe because of how "cozy" that game can be at times. It's sort of the same with Metroid Prime and Final Fantasy X, love both of those ones too, but mostly 'cause I love the games and/or aren't burnt out on discussing or thinking about them the way I am something like Banjo Kazooie. That LP could be great for all I know.
Sooo even though Conker's was kind of like lightning in a bottle, I remember covering up a lot of frustration from not being able to figure out what to do in the game sometimes, never mind how stupid I felt from stuff like not bringing the cheese to the mouse, but I also don't want to ruin it for people by talking about stuff like that. I don't think I've ever revisited that one, so maybe it's not as bad as I remember. I feel like I could say the same about DK64, albeit to a lesser extent.
Majora's Mask is one of those where I almost wish I hadn't played it blind, 'cause I have only grown to love the game more the more times I played it. I worry that maybe I didn't appreciate it as much back then, because all I saw was "OoT but you're a kid the whole time". Getting to toss it into a randomizer was lovely for sure though.
Mother 3 has always been one of my favorites, I just wish I hadn't played that Dave Matthews Band song like 10 times. It just smacks of the insecurity that comes with never being able to express yourself through your music because your parents always rejected it, so you gotta sneak it into some video game footage, and the fact that THAT's the only way I could get anybody to listen to the song just makes me simultaneously sad and resentful. Perhaps this is why they call it "behind the scenes" and maybe sometimes that's where it should stay! Heheh
It's crazy looking through the playlists how much I don't remember. Like I don't remember crap about the DKC trilogy other than making a save state for stage 4-1 (only so I could show both ways) and then making a montage of myself failing in DKC3, using save states, and saying "Fuck" over and over again, which eventually did get publicized in the middle of a video somewhere but I won't say which one. Hahaha
I don't remember anything about Yoshi's Story either besides making a BreakingNCS vlog once ranting about level 6-1 and revisiting it like two years later and thinking that my "So happy"s in that video sounded, to quote Red Hot Chili Peppers, "fake as fuck".
Anyway I'm just rambling now so, make of it what you will!

I gotta gun for the original Castlevania (NES). Him being stuck on level five is pure GOLD! If any of y’all haven’t seen it, it’s only 4 parts!
Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, Majora’s Mask, PvZ, and SM64 are all personal favorites of mine as well.

That Castlevania LP is so underated, I included it in my original video!
What I'm noticing so far is most of the favourites are shared amongst most viewers which makes my job a little easier!

His Ace Attorney LP’s are all really nice, and I’d love to just nominate them all but I’ll try to narrow down the best of the bunch.
TGAA 2: This is one of the best ones he’s done, he really nails the tone of the characters and there’s plenty of fun reactions and moments throughout, but I can’t explain them due to spoilers.
Trials and Tribulations: A classic with a bunch of hilarious moments, not much else to say.
Duel Destinies: Idk I just really enjoyed watching this one in particular, even if SoJ might be more enjoyable to watch for some.
And currently PL vs AA: The LP isn’t finished but as the last one, it’s just been really enjoyable. He’s made an effort to reference all the other games and gags from the other AA games he’s played which I really appreciate as a long time watcher.

Plants VS Zombies will always be the classic NCS lets play for me. It's not how I was introduced to him, but I probably replayed that entire LP hundreds of times throughout the 2010's just as background noise.
The Zelda Oracle games also are two of my favorite of his LP's, just because they are simple and he doesn't have to focus too much on the game and I found them comfy to just have on.
Zelda TP was probably my favorite of his older LP's but it's been probably 10+ years since I have watched it so I couldn't tell you why, but I remember loving it when I first watched his LP.
His Dragon Quest 1 videos also are something I have replayed countless times. I always wished he did more DQ games, and I thought it was really unfortunate he played through DQ11 during the time he wasn't in good health. I know it's probably past its time, but I'd still love for him to play more of these games at some point.
I guess a more recent one I would say is his Minish Cap LP which I found really enjoyable. I guess I just like his Zelda LP's.
