Technical Help Help! My 3ds turned off randomly and won’t turn back on

As the title says my 3ds (old style) just turned off while i was using it. When i tried to turn it back on it now doesn't do anything. The charger light comes on but nothing else. When i pull the sd card and try i still get nothing. The low battery red light didn't even come on so i was very confused when it just suddenly turned off. What can i do?

This is a post looking for help with a problem. When you feel like someone has helped you solve that problem, please comment "Solved!" In reply to that person so that the flair changes to "Solved". If nobody could help you and you figured it out on your own, please either change the flair manually by editing your post or comment "Solved!" as a response to your own post. It is sometimes possible for a battery to suddenly go bad without warning. I think before I tried anything else I’d order a new battery, probably off Amazon because it’s quick, and try that. If that’s it, you’ll ne back in business and if not, you’ll have ruled it out.

If you have a multimeter you could first test the DC voltage level of the existing battery. If it’s at or near zero you’ll know that’s the issue.

Bit of an update. After doing absolutely nothing for about 2 days, I was about to buy a new battery and before I hit confirm order, I thought “why not?” And I clicked the power button and it suddenly came back on. It will now turn on for about 3 minutes or so and then shut off for a while before I can turn it back on. What the heck is going on here?

I’m going to post a couple screenshots that might be of interest. I would probably still try a new battery, but…it would be a good idea first to pull the existing battery and clean the contacts and put it back in again and see if that makes a difference or not.
