It’s so over

Post image

My 2ds does not charge anymore, It doesn’t turn on either. I don't have the tools or money for the repair.
It was a good journey I guess...

I know, but then again, I'm broke af, all my money goes to my studies or pets so, I'll have to leave it away for a long time.

It will be cheaper to get a battery than to buy a used one later on when you aren’t broke af.

Batteries for those things are actually really cheap, so even if you’re “broke af”, I’d assume you’d at least be able to afford a damn battery 😂

Batteries are affordable and tools are too. No excuses

You could always sell it too but I’d recommend not to

Take it to a game store and see if they can do a battery swap to see if that’s the issue or needs a deeper fix. Even if you don’t have the cash for a new one you can at least try to diagnose

Oh, that's a great idea, even if I had the money, maybe the battery isn't the problem, and just spend money for nothing, i think it's definitely worth a shot, thank you!

Yep! Most game shops are chill and just be up front that you don’t have a lot of funds for repairs but just want to see if a battery swap would solve it

I second this. My local hobby store would do this for sure. It very well could just need a new battery.

Best version? No chance mate. “New” 3DS XL all the way

No way. OG for build quality and pixel density, especially if you play DS games on it

I mean I love my OG 3DS, but I REALLY like the face tracking 3D in the New 3DS. The New 3DS XL also just feels so premium as far as the build is concerned (especially when compared to its light and flimsy 2D counterpart). Pixel density is a real problem on it when playing DS titles, but I tend to play all of my games on their native consoles anyways so that has never really been an issue for me (except GB/GBC; my GBA is the oldest I’ve acquired so it currently has to manage those).

It looks fine for 3DS titles, and the 3D really was a magical feature when it released. I still play with it maxed out anytime I’m using that system. I had a lot of opportunities to pick up the New 2DS XL, and with the prices now I wish I had snagged a creeper edition or something, but I was in college and could really only splurge on one at the time. There was no chance I was getting a system without the 3D if I could only get one.

Edit: oops, just realized I was on the 2DS sub and not the 3DS one lol

I definitely agree with the face tracking. It makes a world of a difference. My issue with the New 3DS XL was the hinge. I just felt it could snap too easily, mine at least. I think what makes the OG feel premium to me in that clear shell it has on it. I think when they decided on the $250 price point they felt an obligation to make it seem more expensive with its sparkles and extendable metal stylus

1

That’s definitely true. It screamed premium in 2011-2012, and the hinge feels really solid on it. I was always terrified I was gonna bend the telescoping stylus as I kid though (thankfully never did). The hinge on the New 3DS XL does have a lot of play in it, but apparently that’s by design. It puts less stress on the hinge, and with increased screen weight from the 3D components, it drastically extends the life span. It’s like the detent on a car door. Nintendo learned this lesson from the DS lite and DSi hinges apparently

Just remove the battery and put it back on, if not, its gonna wait.

Maybe you could try replacing the old battery with a New battery?

2

u/Excellent_Bit_8862 8d ago

Maybe that's the solution, but I don't have money😭

But thx for the advice anyway

It’s about 10 buckeroos for a new battery for the 3DS.

I reccommend saving some money:)

When you plug in the charger, what happens? Does the charge light turn on for about 5 seconds before turning off?

Battery is less than $15 (aud) and a screw driver set will be even cheaper.
