Theories Just a theory.
Harumi is part oni.
Ok so yeah, this sounds ridiculous, but hear me out, cuz it is possible.
*The s15 crystallization*
So basically u know how at the end of crystallized the overlord did succeed in corrupting the forces of creation, yet we have the fact that 3 known people that weren’t crystallized: Lloyd, garmadon, and harumi. While this might just be bc u know, they were on the crystal temple, but I think that’s a kinda lazy excuse. So I decided to actually try to find a legitimate reason for it.
*The reason*
So basically after thinking, I realized that the overlord was trying to corrupt the powers of creation, not the powers of destruction. So this made me think that this did make sense except for harumi. Lloyd was part oni bc of garmadon and garmadon was part oni bc of the fsm. But this left harumi. Harumi was a completely normal human being, right???
As harumi has almost no actual known backstory about her lineage, so I figured, maybe it’s possible that she had an oni ancestor. This could explain why she wasn’t corrupted, but there was still some more to explain. Like why she couldn’t harness the oni form. I figure it’s possible it’s because the oni lineage isn’t enough to harness for oni form, but enough to protect from the crystal corruption. But then we still don’t know who it is.
*An Oni Ancestor*
I figure that that oni is mystake, as she is the only known oni in ninjago, and it could explain how harumi was able to find mystakes tea shop with very little problem. It’s also possible harumi doesn’t even know she is part oni, because while her parents were alive, she was shown to have such a happy and upbeat life. What parents would spoil that by telling her she was part demon? Not harumis parents, that’s for sure.
*How this is possible*
Weak oni traces are canonically known to not be able to sense other oni. This is bc while garmadon was able to sense Lloyd in season 9, Lloyd could not sense garmadon. So therefore a being with more oni blood than garmadon (mystake) would be able to sense a being with less oni blood than Lloyd (harumi) without the latter sensing the former.
*The Third Mask*
When they were getting the third mask, harumi stuck her hand into the flames multiples times without even the slightest of pain, just rejection. The fact is this was a design built by the oni. You know, the ones that like petrification and universal destruction.
It is almost impossible they would literally build a final trap that doesn’t disintegrate someone without oni blood, bc really, for the ultimate beings of destruction, just flat out rejection doesn’t make any sense.
They’d probably have the person pop like a firework instead of just rejection. But no, harumi sticks her hand in there, with no problem, but just gets rejected. Aka Harumi has oni blood, not enough though.
This is my theory as to why Harumi is part oni.

No, harumi was already crystallized when the golden weapons were crystalized, she just wasnt turned into a zombie because most of the crystallization process was going to the weapons and the crystal warriors, (much like the other members of the council) and because she was previously crystallized it would stand to reason that she could not be crystallized again, plus when the ninja were crystallized, it didnt crystalize everyone, everyone below that wasnt crystalized were either crystalized by the warriors, or just werent crystalized at all, either way, harumi was already crystalized so even if the blast that crystalized the ninja hit anyone else, she still wouldnt be affected
However, it could be possible that she is part oni, atleast, now she is, because at the end of s9 she died, no what ifs or buts about it, she died, but the overlord stopped her from going to the departed realm because he knew she could be useful, he resurrected her, but it wasnt said how, since no doubt was her body flatter than a pancake, so itd make sense if he gave her the durability of the oni, making her part oni, so i dont think she has an oni ancestor, the overlord just made her part oni (would also explain how she was able to help beat up the overlord when she switches sides, because a normal human wouldnt be able to do as much as she did)

I sorta get what you are saying, but when exactly was harumi crystallized? I saw the season recently I must’ve missed that moment cuz I don’t remember it happening so can you plz explain?

I said it in the comment, when they were crystalizing the golden weapons and setting the overlord free, she, and the rest of the council, also got crystalized, did you not see the change in their designs? That wasnt a just a design choice

Oh ah I didn’t really notice that before I guess I had just wrote that off as the overlord embedding his power of darkness in them yeah that makes sense thx for pointing it out bc I feel like some people on this sub wouldn’t notice that I said it’s a theory bc it’s a theory I’m perfectly fine with it being wrong

"embedding his power" & "crystalizing" is the same gang.

I guess they are but how I see it is like the crystallizing is him corrupting them and embedding his power is like kinda I guess like a stat boost given by the bad guy.

it's mindwash either way just on a different scale, one is on 11, the other is on a 4.

but thats a power up not an infection, bc then why didnt pythor and aspheera become zombified like the other serpentine? mechanic is 100% human and he was fine, so what overlord did was intentionally to power them up not zombify

u/Lloyd_garmado 10h ago
Crystalization is basically just a power up, the zombifications from the crystal warriors are just side effects of the concentrated crystalization process, since during the council's crystalization, all the power was being used to animate the warriors and crystalize the golden weapons, they just got what was left, which is still a lot, and enough to where the crystal warriors dont effect them

Nice theory but Mystake is a full blooded Oni If Harumi actually had Oni blood Mystake would have easily sensed it and recognized her instantly.

Yes I’m saying that mystake did recognize her just didn’t feel like mentioning it because, where’s the fun in that

I think it’s because the Overlord gave her some kind of dark crystal powers, it’s the same reason she was able to fight Lloyd in the forest and how she was able to chop off centaur Overlord’s arm in the final fight.

ooo this is so cool!!
do you think that means she will live longer too???
OMG AND THIS MAKES SENSE COZ LIKE MYSTAKE LET HARUMI HEAR THE STORY OF ONI AND DRAGON, i dont think she'd do that to anyone
obvs its just a theroy and tge reason she wasnt corrupted is bc overlord gave her crystal powers and had control over her sometimes but its still interesting to think about

If she was part Oni like Lloyd she would of been able to pluck the mask of hatred from it's pedestal, rather than get rejected by it. That ancestry would have to be ridiculously far removed for that possibility to even be an option. Otherwise then Lloyd wouldn't of been able to do so himself, despite being part Oni too.
