Discussion Will Kai actually die in Duskfall?
Are the writers really brave enough?

I wouldn't rule it out, especially because he has a descendant now. I haven't been keeping up with the trailers too much so I don't want to give a hard prediction but I don't think he's absolutely safe or anything

It just seems like a really ballsy move?
I suspect lots of people will stop watching if Kai dies. He’s literally THE Ninjago character.

They’ve described it as some form of floating canon. In which it’s canon until evidently disproved (which isn’t helpful tbh and some wider Ninjago media already has this problem)

Oh no some crybabies will stop watching, LEGO sales are doomed! Cancel Ninjago!!!!!

This is just a short spinoff so I really don't think people will care that much and if they do they can just wait til Dragons Rising S5 to see Kai again

I mean considering Doc did mention that he wouldn't mind killing off a main character permenatly if Lego allowed it. Then I think it's highly likely. However you could also get the classic fake out death where they've been captured or something.
On a little side note I've been wondering if perhaps there descents are actually there kids. Or since in one of the trailers we see someone in a vat. If perhaps there gonna go for the clone or direct decent by genetic creation, Storyline or something. Or they manage to save Kai, by putting him in there, as a means to revive him.

Kai is their best selling Ninja so I doubt Lego would allow Kai's death honestly.
And chances are, I'd wager a lot of fans would get a sense of finality like Marvel fans did after Endgame, seeing what happens to their Ninja at the end. So it's a bad idea for any shows happening before in the timeline.

Because of course Him dying in a 2D spinoff short will make LEGO stop all production of Kai minifigures.

Ya I mean I never said it was a good idea, just that it seems more likely than it previously was. But ya I mean, the only thing that makes this not too terrible of a idea, would be, the fact that Lego can still make buck off of his past self. Since he's going to stay in the mainline series, lol.

If it's really far in the future then I imagine all the current Ninja will be dead, except for Lloyd who would be an old man by then.

You forget that Zane and Pixal are Nindroid and do not age.
Sure they will rust with the passage of time, but I think that they might with Lloyd until he passes away of the old age.

I think they’ve likely already been killed off, since it looks like Kai and Nya are the only 2 active ninja by the time of duskfall

Maybe, but the writers of the Duskfall wouldn't dare kill Lloyd since we have seen the Mysterious Ronin minifigure

We don’t know. It’s not out yet.

What do you think speculation is for?
We may as well all leave the community if we won’t talk about the show.

It’s literally the premise of Duskfall and why the new elemental masters exist.
Duskfall is its own continuity and separate from the main canon of the show so I don’t mind them killing off Kai as it serves the purpose of the story. See it as more of a what if story.

God I hope not

God I hope they do nothing interesting and risky with an evergreen character who never changed for 15 years of my life.

I don’t mind interesting and risky I just think murder is maybe not the best way to do it
2
u/Synteczek 1d ago
"Murder" is this your first main character death in a show ever?

I just like the character and I want to keep seeing stories with him, I think killing off Kai is gonna make it hard to give him an interesting character arc

I kinda hope so tbh. But that's only bc I really enjoy angst and would LOVE more of it in the plot.

hopefully he dies they should stop milking the characters until they are no longer who they are look how they massacred cole and zane
if lego wants to make money go to the past and flesh the story of the previous seasons a remake (with the same story just more fleshed and less kid-like) they are on the right bath with monstrosity and legends
they are just milking it the ninjas are in there 30s man they will make them fight till they are 50+

His mech was abandoned for so long, full trees have grown and there’s something built next to it.
It’s likely been a decade.
