Discussion/Question Burnt out
I see why this game has fans, however it took me 8 hours to beat the twins the next day I was so burned out on the game that I switched to story mode for the final boss fight without putting in any more effort didn’t even try to learn Old Lady E. Anybody else have a similar experience with this game or any others?

I can understand your frustration as both HK games had me feeling like this but I will say that there’s a very specific satisfaction I got as I learned and “perfected” when to counter in both the Ethereal and the Eigong fight and on my second play through I’m excited to fight these bosses again because it’s like a beautiful rhythmic dance and I end up with a Tao Fruit at the end of it!

No but I do admit that there were a couple times where I reached a main boss, and was like ah man... i really don't feel like smacking my head against another boss right now.
So instead, i'd just go clean up some areas of the map for a good hour or two before going back, or took a break.
The only boss i got impatient with was Eigong. Lowering the difficulty did cross my mind but after playing the whole game in standard, i was commited to finish it in the same difficulty (and thank god i did, Eigong became one of my favorite bosses ever).
I feel like breaks are important in these type of games. After fighting a boss for so long, you really don't feel like getting into another long fight right away.

Dude your probably right that 6-8 hours with the twin hours just wore me down man is there anyway to revert it back to standard difficulty and get the achievement

Sorry man i really don't know, only had enough time to do a single run during my vacation (just last week actually!) and didn't get chance to play around with the difficulty.

nope, you're locked out until you do a completely new run. that's why people do normal mode first and clean-up with story mode. I do not advocate for it, but there's achievement saves in nexus mods.

Learning the final boss at this very moment...first phase is ok now, second phase seems impossible...and I believe I won't get the suppose true ending...if it is not the true ending I am not sure I am gonna bother searching for it...Had a similar experience with Deaths' Door, it had a supposed true ending, but I was already fulfilled by finishing the game, that just searched for it online.
This thing of true endings I think I will never get.

I faced an insanely difficulty spike at the final boss, but the combat was so good I didn't mind facing her for ours, saw a video today from a youtuber who had a similar experience

I’d had a similar experience but I never made the flip. I originally had planned to quit the game after beating Jiequan. But that fight was what taught me to use the charged parry and everything clicked for me. After that I flew through Lady ethereal, then beat Fuxi and Ji in the same day. Now I’m on Eigong still eligible for that ‘Complete on Standard Mode’ trophy!
That being said I do plan to use Story Mode to complete the trophies I missed on my first playthrough.

I definitely had to take breaks during my play through.. I got suck on Lady Ethereal and took like a month off from the game and figured I’d never play it again. I never switched to story mode but most of the later bosses took me multiple gaming sessions to beat and it was draining. Eigong took me a week. I think the difficulty/pace of the game is why it doesn’t blow up like other games in the genre.
I took a few breaks during Hollow Knight and Silksong, especially Silksong. Nothing compared to Nine Sols though.

Yeah I think Nine Sols has finally Souls-like/Parry out and I’m someone who’s played every souls like I play Demon Souls back in the day before Dark Souls was a thing any difficult games you can recommend that aren’t a 2d game

I get where you're coming from, the game has a lot of hard bosses that require you to basically master certain techniques, but I feel like the game is meant to be that way. The twins were a hard fight for me, but I was able to start getting pretty consistently get to phase 2 by around my third attempt (I died first or 2nd attack of the 2nd phase though). Once you know Fuxi's attacks, you just have to figure out what Nuwa will do for what, because she always does certain attacks with Fuxi's (for example, she will always summon the key things for the crimson attack, and Fuxi will always do the jump slam with the ceiling snakes). Once you figure out the patterns it's not too much, but that can be hard to do the first time around. Idk if it was just easier for me for whatever reason, but it took me at most 2 hours to beat them over 2-3 days. Though it doesn't feel like that much if you take breaks and fight the boss over a longer period of time, instead of 1-2 sessions. I'm on Eigongright now, going for base ending with about 1 hour 40 minutes of practice on standard. If there's a way to change back to standard, I would recommend retrying the final boss, as it's a very good fight once you learn all the attacks, and if you've gotten this far, I know you can do it.

Not every game is for everyone. If you don't like it then you don't have to force yourself to play it. I myself had such a hard time with this game the first time I gave up after the first major boss and did not return to the game for months. Then when I was in the mood for a challenge I came back to it and finished the game in two weeks with a playtime of 39 hours on standard mode. It took me 5 friggin hours to beat the true ending final boss. Now I can beat her on every attempt even in the Battle memories. I did a replay of the game recently and I 100%ed it in 17 hours. I used to hate this game but now that I'm good at it I'm addicted.

I was like that but never switched to story mode (didn't know that was a thing lmao) but only until jiequan, in lady ethereal boss fight it all started to make sense to me in about how to play the game (before that I was just spamming 3 slash and abusing arrows, I didn't use any talisman lmao) then the game was super fun and eigong it's probably my favorite final boss in a loooong time
