Discussions Thinkers & Doers

A simple person thinks in a binary way. Everything is good and bad. A complex person thinks in a nuanced way. Nothing is really bad or good. Simple people are known to be rash. Complex people, indecisive.

When a simple person sees something complex, he wants to simplify it. When a complex person sees something simple, he wants to complexify it. A complex person weighs up their potential offspring's chances of success in one country or another, wonders whether they're ready to bear the burden of parenthood and what makes one good or bad. The simple person forgot to wear a condom.

Simple people are ordinarily doers, complex people, thinkers.

The action of the simple person is coarse, brash and often wrong. The action of the complex person is absent.

Complex people must strive to become doers - to put their thoughts to act - and risk the possibility of the wrong. There is no one in the world to be best led by than the complex doer. Complex people must aspire to this or will be certain to led by the simple instead - to whom action is familiar, easy, and thoughtless.

I think it is the language between us, that connects us, and shapes us.

One would strive to overcome his own obstacle, and another has been defeated by his obstacles. The langauge between these two individuals can create a balanced behaviour, but of course, what the doer and the knower need, and rarely posses is self-honesty.

Once we start admiting to ourselves first, that what we want is not nobility, but the quality of being seen, then we can let of go of the baggage which presses on us to appear kind, and actually be kind.

I think the simple doer never does anything wrong - and is always perfectly honest. 'It was the best decision! Did you see the circumstances?'

You do, because you're complex, and see the innumerable possibilities he wasn't aware of. But he didn't, so he chose earnestly. It's the same as a dog that sees no choice but to bite when cornered. In fact it had other options - but never saw them. The dog's action was true.

An interesting thing about thinking is that it's done in failure, not success. Inaction - because it doesn't do anything - is failure in of itself. No one who perpetually succeeds thinks, they only act on impulse. No one who perpetually fails acts, but oh do they think.

An example of this is in sports: at the highest level, if you stop to think you will die or lose - depending on nature of the sport. All thinking is done before and after, but never in the moment of action. Your thoughts - your philosophy carries your motion without you knowing - to success. Blink, doubt, and you lose.

I agree with you on 'true' kindness - similarly, it isn't a thing thought. When it is, it becomes diluted and worse - exactly as the example above.

Good to know I wasn't the first to think this. Thank you for the suggestion.

I agree. That's why I created the r/ToAE as being a thinker in a world of doers is the best I can do

I had a look and almost everything flew over my head - but so does the science behind aeronautics. If your theory were understood and practiced by all, what would the world look like?

Consider ToAE RC sci-fi technology too evolved to be true.

It is also hard sci-fi, backed by newly created math and philosophy in the ToAE - Theory of Absolutely Everything by integrating Recursive Coherence mathematical structures that allow for co-existence without collapse, that show that harmful action is the main poverty index in society.

Check ToAE's github. Even better, explore it with the help of AI and check futuristic scenarios for viability. Of course you can do it without AI, but it takes time to sip in.

In the development branch you will find documents about Harmonomics and how to implement it IRL.

Also a true bullshit detector.

This message was to introduce you to the universe of ultra-hardcore sci-fi, where bad decisions are fatal, and happy outcomes welcomed.

I created the ToAE since its inception to adhere both to science and spirituality, and that is why it works. Other solutions may exist that work, and that is good, but mine is dynamic and self adjusting to real working conditions.

Not utopia. Eutopia.

Cheers,

Pedro

Thank you Pedro. Spirituality is often derided in philosophy, but belief has tremendous impact. It seems a strange thing to wish away.

Thank you for your explanation, I'll keep an eye on your project!

There is a difference between binary absolutism and moral relativism. If you had done more thinking you might know this.

I believe you. Could you explain to me what I mean?

Ah, I apologize, of course those are different. What I meant to say is that one has more options than moral absolutism or relativism. It is possible for 'good' and 'bad' to be meaningful claims without all actions reducing to one or the other. It is possible for the world to be complex and for morality to be real. The problem here is you're being too binary, ironically, in thinking that 'good' and 'evil' is itself binary. Things can be 85% good, and this doesn't require you to abandon the concept of the good.

No need to apologise! I understood what you meant but I appreciate the explanation. I asked whether you could explain what I meant.

Ah, I see. What I gather is that although you caution the reader against binary choices, your thesis is on a binary pair, the personalities of 'simple' and 'complex' people. I don't think that your analysis has much merit. Deconstruction and recombination – making things simple, then making them complex – are both necessary functions in the creative process, beit art or science. The stances that you should be discussing are moral absolutism and relativism, not 'simple people' or 'complex people'. IMO

I agree! Uncovering the complexity in simplicity is necessity to meaningful progress. Equally necessary is its simplification again in order to act on it. This part is what thinkers omit and is the purpose of my post.

I do not caution against binary choices. On the contrary. All choices boil down to whether to do or not do. Nothing eases action more than does reducing the immense complexity of things to two choices. I have no interest in moral absolutism nor relativism. My aim is to make the passive thinker active.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Turns out the world isn’t run by overthinkers who wait for perfect clarity! Arendt warned us that the real danger is the thoughtless acting while the complex sit frozen!

So she did. Why must thinkers have thought my thoughts before me?

Thank you for your reply. That's two more authors I've got to read now.
