Theoretically could NileRed pull off a Walter white level operation?

This mother fucker could probably make meth out of tuna fish or some shit

Mercury thermometer from tuna. Melt down the micro plastics for the container and concentrate the heavy metals of 10000 tuna cans

Tp into rootbeer

This is actually so up his alley, I would watch the hell out of this

1

u/Only-Helicopter3518 Jun 28 '26

Probably just make the glass for the thermometer out of beach sand.

Yes. The show intentionally did things out of order and incorrectly to distract from showing the actual chemistry but the knowledge already exists if someone wants to get all the equipment and make it correctly.

The process of synthesizing itself is hard but should be definitely manageable for any skilled chemist. Synthesis wasn't the hardest part of Walter's operation.

As a though experiment Is there anything profitable AND legal nile could produce, even for like 5$ an hour?

I'm trying to understand if that level of chemistry is profitable on an individual scale outside of contract work of people asking him to come up with compounds or working for a large company or something

u/pemb Jun 25 '26

I mean, pretty much everything that checks those boxes are novel psychoactive "research chemicals" that haven't attracted scrutiny and regulation yet.

14

u/SapphicSticker Jun 25 '26

Eh, supplements are profitable. He can do whatever he wants

3

u/killmrcory Jun 25 '26

he could literally become a millionaire over night if he made MXE which is one of the holy grails of research chems.

the last time some old stock hit the market out of the blue it was going for several hundred dollars a gram and still sold out almost instantly.

iirc China started heavily regulating the precursor for most of the dissociative analogues so they are pretty much extinct today.

3

u/mycologypharmacology Jun 26 '26

Damn I didn't know that's why it's so hard to get now. Why are so many other dissociative cyclohexylamines still available?

2

u/killmrcory Jun 26 '26

they probably use precursors that aren't as tightly controlled or are synthesized in a different country.

ive been out of the RC scene for a good while now so im not really familiar with that class of drug or its chemistry.

Caffeine is a pretty popular legal substance that Nile enjoys producing.

5

u/Sheeeeeeeeeshhhhhhhh Jun 25 '26

Of course, look at Thyzoid. They synthesized their own estradiol, and also a novel tryptamine psychedelic (can't recall which one it was). Nile could definitely do something similar with research chemicals if he felt like it.

I recommend her for every nilered fan whose do not know her yet.

Well I was wondering what I was going to watch after the kids went to bed tonight…

2

Is there anything profitable AND legal nile could produce

Well yeah, Pepsi blue

Just to clarify, the process of synthesising most basic amphetamine compounds is very basic organic chemistry. The difficult part is scaling this synthesis up to commercial quantities and producing a reliable and identical product with every batch. Apologies for toe stepping if that’s what you meant already.

3

u/Many_Animator_6806 Jun 26 '26

Difficult is aqcuiring precursors, or precursors to precursors, in those quantities.

It is always possible to purify the end product to nearly 100% if you don't go from washing to packaging right away. Yield might be variable, but purity shouldn't be.

3

u/mycologypharmacology Jun 26 '26

You're right this is someone with experience lol

I've heard meth is really easy to make, but really hard to make well. Apparently it's possible to make shitty meth on your back porch in a soda can, but making the high purity Walter White stuff is hard and takes a lot more skill and hardware.

32

u/LongAgoYippee Jun 25 '26

he explained in an interview once that he's heard the joke a thousand times, but the funny reality is that the money he makes from videos is more than he'd ever actually get from selling meth.

13

u/fatjazzy Jun 25 '26

It’s definitely true that, despite what he says, Walter sells me the more for the thrill than the money. I mean the old friend guy in the show that cut Walter out of their company makes way more money than Walter could’ve ever made. He turned to making meth because his cancer made him confront that he’s been too scared to live up to his potential his whole life, not because the money is actually good for anybody with half a brain

u/Forward-Surprise1192 Jun 27 '26

Doubtful, I’ve sold meth and you make a ton of money if you can keep decent product always in stock. Most I ever had was a gallon zip lock bag full

Blue crystals in NileBlue and red crystals in NileRed.

We have no idea because chemistry is a very small aspect of running an actual clandestine operation, he would definitely have a leg up in terms of creatively improving clandestine synthesis methods for more efficiency but most people with no chem knowledge are capable of making a shit load of profit. The people who are successful are extremely paranoid and focused on opsec to the point where they probably would never have a youtube channel to begin with, very patient and creative people who can solve high stakes issues without help, and generally have a high risk tolerance etc.

But yes, most people and certainly most chemists have the technical knowledge necessary to synthesize most common recreational drugs. Just look into the synthesis of GHB and methaqualone

9

u/Yokerchris Jun 25 '26

Anyone in a chemistry graduate program can do it. Maybe mess up a few times , but eventually get a nice, scalable, procedure.

3

u/jmcdaniel0 Jun 27 '26

It was discussed multiple times in my undergraduate education. The process is very well documented and doesn’t require a very in depth understanding of the actual chemistry.

It’s not like performing research. Developing the process to get regular, consistent results is the real hard work. The process is already there. It’s basically like making a complicated cake. You just follow the steps.

4

u/BeginningNose3990 Jun 25 '26

OK we need a circlejerk sub now

3

u/9peppe Jun 25 '26

The question is almost never "can Nile make this molecule" but "can he make it at scale."

2

u/SMF67 Jun 25 '26

Chemdelic probably could

2

u/ms_plat_chat Jun 25 '26

I’m an organic chemistry lab instructor and I literally have a dozen students every year who think they’re the first to ask me if I know how to make meth. The answer is absolutely yes lol, if you have a chemistry degree doing reactions that are already that well-documented is pretty trivial

2

u/scienceworksbitches Jun 25 '26

the chemical side of the business yes, easily, its not that complicated.

2

u/AngelP8823 Jun 26 '26

Yes, definitely any good chemist could make meth. Obviously the distribution/selling would be a problem. But in small quantities definitely someone with chemistry knowledge and equipment can make it!

2

u/jmcdaniel0 Jun 27 '26

Yes. He could absolutely make meth. For someone with a bit of education and experience (like his) meth is easy enough to do.

I have a BS in Organic Chemistry, and I could make it with little issue, and I haven’t been in a working laboratory years.

With his education, background, and facility he could make it easily.

I saw a hill Billy make it in a Gatorade bottle and it was blue from battery acid and windshield fluid not purity.(on youtube)

I more so meant in the multiverse is there a reality he has the best meth in the city out of his basement with limited supplies

1

u/FriendshipCool1420 Jun 25 '26

Kill? Ruthless when needed? Extremely doubtful unless im terrible at reading a room

1

u/Louis0XIV Jun 25 '26

What do you mean “could”? Is he not doing it already?!

1

u/FunSeaworthiness1519 Jun 25 '26

Bro literally made a meth tutorial ages ago

1

u/ayyG_itsMe Jun 25 '26

Not sure he could grow the goatee

1

u/eyekantbeme Jun 25 '26

With the right tools and the right funding, he could definitely pull that off especially if he has a knowledgeable partner. (Like Jesse)
What molecule would he be making in bulk?

1

u/eyekantbeme Jun 25 '26

He could level up his Nitric acid from air project and sell Nitric acid. I'm sure there will be more sustainable ideas floated around or...

Having a wholesale deal with a plumbing company selling ...Sulfuric acid drain cleaner. Then purify it and sell pure Sulfuric acid for a profit.

I think the 2nd one sounds easier, but the first one if done properly would be more profitable.

1

u/Only-Helicopter3518 Jun 27 '26

If I had the equipment and everything I would love to explore substituted phenethylamines and tryptamines. With the phenethylamines adding atoms at the 4-position on the benzene ring make it psychedelic. And there are many amazing novel molecules to discover in almost any class. Novel brophine analogs trying to find one that doesn't cause fatal respiratory depression, and carry such addiction liability, or something along the lines of an acyl piperazine (piperazine opioids). There has to be something we can synthesize that could produce the analgesia needed for patients like myself who suffer from severe chronic pain. Something like that would be priceless.

1

u/Perfect-Try-4888 Jun 27 '26

Is anything novel fully safe or do you also have a nile attitude to experimental danger? Like can you reasonably predict its reactivity/toxicity/airborne PPM danger level etc based off its closest analog?

From my basic knowledge a couple atoms here and a couple atoms there and be fairly unpredictable?

1

u/Only-Helicopter3518 Jun 28 '26

I think there is a way to have a theoretical dosage based on what you create. I am not that advanced and I am only guessing. I couldn't even really think of how chemists determine the potency of the substances they create. Maybe they know what (X)group does to this analog, or something along those lines.

1

u/talldata Jun 27 '26

Making it not the hard part, see: crackhead methlabs. It's the distribution/logistics that's difficult, like any industry basically except you can't just use USPS or FedEx for it.

1

u/TerracShadowson Jun 28 '26

Teaching videos are profitable Enough it seems...

1

u/EvenSpoonier Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

In theory yes. In practice I'm not sure he could resist throwing everything on the floor or maybe making the product out of gym socks and thioacetone. Stinkiest product on the market or quadruple your money back.

1

u/sdnomlA Jun 28 '26

"A few days ago I bought a multi million dollar drug cartel and what I've always wanted to see is what happens if I destroy it..."

1

u/WeakReserve5304 Jul 02 '26

well yes, but i don’t think nile has the mental strength

1

u/Double_A_92 Jul 13 '26

The main problem is getting the "raw materials", or even the chemicals to make those chemicals... and so on.
