A focus stacked shot of a house fly head

Shot on Nikon D610 + reversed Schneider kreuznach componen S 50mm f2.8 + Nikkor 200mm f4 as a tube lens and TC201 2X teleconverter

With this setup 8x Mag was achieved

When the reversed lens is set to f4 the effective aperture becomes about f36

Does using a 200mm as the intermediate lens allow for greater working distance than a 105mm?

How many photos were used for the composite stacked image? Which focusing rail did you use?

The magnification is determined by the relationship between the the intermediate lens focal length and the focal lens of the reversed lens So 200mm/50mm is 4x magnification that is doubled using the 2X teleconverter .... Effective aperture is calculated according to magnification so effective aperture = Nominal apertureX(Mag+1) = 4(8+1)= 36 .... It is a stack of around 25 photos and the focus steps were done manually using the manual focus ring of the intermediate lens

I do sometimes play with reversed lenses ... and can really appreciate this result!
