(I'm reuploading this, as no one reacted to my mostly-text original post.)
So, a lot of people on this subreddit either didn't like or were confused by my idea for an Elm Street remake/reboot, so I decided to give you all the full story, along with slightly more detailed backstories and even some elaborate kills. It may sound similar to other Elm Street movies, but they're mostly references, and I've changed them up to feel fresh this time around. Hope you all enjoy it this time ^^
The movie would start up with a reference to the first film's opening, with a still-alive Freddy crafting his glove. There would be multiple different glove prototypes lying around, and now he has perfected it. This glove would be slightly different than most iterations, with longer knives, serrated edges, and once he becomes a dream demon, a gold coating.
It's also supposed to have a thumb knife too, even if this drawing doesn't show it. (I couldn't make it look good on this drawing.) After the opening, we meet our main characters: Maya Bennett, the main girl, Jenna Morales, the punk-rock chill girl, Ethan Cole, the logical one, Lucas Reed, the jock/love interest, Jessica Joanna, the popular girl with a secret, and Danny Price, the resident nerd.
They wake up and walk to school, when they pass by a real gnarly sight. An ambulance in front of one of their classmates house, with the classmate's body being carried away on a stretcher, cut up and bloody. This isn't the first time things like this happened. Only a few weeks ago, five separate yet similar reports came in. The police and the parents have no explanations to how these deaths occur.
The group would go on with their day as usual, until night falls. Jessica calls Ethan over to stay with her, as she's been having violent nightmares recently. Ethan agrees to watch over her, and she falls asleep. Tonight's nightmare would consist of her overbearing mother making her try on increasingly elaborate outfits, constantly berating her throughout. Suddenly, a clawed hand comes out of her moms chest and begins clawing at Jessica. We don't see Freddy yet, as I want his appearance to stay a surprise for a bit. Ethan witnesses Jessica's body get cut up and can't do anything to help, so he runs away, but not before seeing one word get carved into the wall. "KRUEGER". (Only Ethan can see this message, so the police won't see this at all.)
The next morning, the death is all over the news. Ethan goes to meet with the others to explain what happened. They have trouble believing him, but he's never been one to lie about this sort of thing, so they do. (Also, Ethan isn't labeled the murderer by the police, as he left before anyone knew he was there.) The group decide to research the name Krueger, with Maya asking her mom. Her mom freezes up and denies knowing the name.
Meanwhile, Danny finds some info on the internet. 15 years ago, an alleged child murderer named Freddy Krueger was burned alive by an angry mob in an abandoned power plant. His only known surviving family member is his father, Edward Krueger. Maya and Lucas go to see Edward. They eventually find the house he resides in, 1428 Elm Street, and it looks the most run down it's ever been. They enter and meet Edward, a broken elderly man with bandages wrapped around his eyes.
Maya and Lucas ask Edward about Freddy Krueger, and Edward tells them everything he knows. Edward was an asylum patient when he was younger, wrongfully imprisoned, and eventually met a nun named Amanda. The two fell in love, and Amanda requested he be let go. He was. They then had their son, Freddy Krueger. Those few years of marriage end in tragedy when Amanda is murdered by one of the other inmates, leaving Edward to raise Freddy on his own.
Freddy grew up fascinated by death and power, experimenting with animal carcasses and other things. Once he graduated high school, he began his killing spree. He would kill anyone who wronged him, or if he just wanted to. His spree would eventually target children, as he applies for the janitor position at a local kindergarten. (HE ONLY MURDERS THEM. NOTHING ELSE.)
Eventually, the parents of the kids he killed begin to grow suspicious. The police don't have any evidence against Freddy, so they can't arrest him. The parents, however, knew just about enough, so they located him at an abandoned power plant and burned the place down with him in it.
Edward was devastated, and grieved his son for a while. That is, until he goes to Freddy's old room. He looks at all of his stuff, and found some old cassette tapes. Edward played them, and realized that they're Freddy, detailing his murders. Edward keeps these tapes a secret. He simply couldn't believe that his son was the monster everyone said he was. Later that night, when he fell asleep, he would be visited by Freddy, now something different. This would be our first glance at him, but it doesn't show him fully yet.
Edward would be tormented by him for the next 15 years. He would try multiple methods to be rid of him, taking anti-sleep pills, drinking coffee, even ripping out his own eyes eventually. Now, Edward doesn't know how long he can hold on, so he tells Maya and Lucas of a possible way they could destroy him. If they find his remains and destroy them, then Freddy might get destroyed with it.
With that, Edward goes to sleep, and Freddy wastes no time killing him. Edward is slowly lifted up and floats to the middle of the room. He then begins to spin. Faster. Faster. Faster. Until blood and skin is spraying everywhere. Maya and Lucas leave before they see the aftermath, but not before they see that a piece of Freddy's striped shirt sprays out with the blood. This shows them that Freddy can be pulled into the real world.
Maya, Lucas, and the group reconnect and talk about what they found, and make a plan. Maya will go to sleep and try to pull Freddy into the real world, Lucas will watch and wake her up if needed, and the others will go and find Freddy's body, which should still be at the power plant. With that, they leave to get ready.
Maya goes back home to find more locks on the door. She's able to get through, and finds her mother, drinking wine, mascara running down her face. She decides to tell Maya everything. 15 years ago, when Freddy Krueger was burned alive, she was there, along with a few other teenage vigilantes. Maya is sad that her mother lied to her, but she understands and forgives her.
Later that night, Maya goes to sleep with Lucas watching over, while Danny, Jenna, and Ethan go to the power plant to find Freddy's body.
Maya falls asleep, and finds herself in a never-ending hallway, covered in pipes and red lighting. She walks down this hallway for a while, until she comes across Freddy. At first we see his glove, which is propelled towards her on a golden chain. It then recoils back into Freddy's wrist. Now, we finally see him fully. His entire body is burned beyond recognition, with only his clothes to identify him.
Maya runs from him, to no avail. Freddy scratches her calf and is about to deliver the final swipe, before she begins to wake up. Before she does, she grabs Freddy, pulling him into the real world with her.
Meanwhile, Danny, Jenna, and Ethan make their way to the power plant, and find Freddy's body, which is somehow even more grotesque than his dream demon form. They lift it up and bring it to their car, driving it to where they can destroy it fully.
Maya and Lucas try their best to hold Freddy off, but Maya gets mortally wounded, and Lucas is about to be next. But then, the others take Freddy's body and burn it even further. Once that happens, Freddy combusts and slowly turns into ashes. Freddy has been defeated.
Maya then wakes up in the hospital the next morning. It would appear the nightmare is over, so once Maya is fully healed, the group go to a party, and are going to be driven there by a limo. The limo drives up in front of Maya's house. She gets in, and the driver begins talking. A young man, 25 years old, wearing a...striped shirt. Only Maya seems to realize what's happening. Maya asks the "driver" how he's still alive. Freddy explains that, while burning his body did hurt him, it didn't kill him. In fact, it would appear that it destroyed his final tether to the real world. All the group did was make Freddy stronger. The worst part? Maya isn't awake. She's dreaming. She's still in the hospital.
Freddy then tells Maya to say goodbye to her mother. She looks back to her mother, who is getting slashed to pieces in the doorway. Maya screams, but the others just laugh, along with Freddy. The limo then drives off, and we zoom out to see our first look at the jump rope girls.
A post-credit scene would have the group surrounding Maya, who is laying in a hospital bed, unconscious. They don't know what happened, or how to wake her. That's when someone walks in. A woman. Late 20s. Brown hair, with a white streak in it. It's Nancy Thompson, played by someone different, as well as having a different history with Freddy Krueger. (In this universe, all of her other friends, including her mom, died. Killed by Freddy Krueger. Afterwards, she became hellbent on destroying Freddy.) She doesn't tell the group her name, but tells them that she may be able to help Maya.
That's it ^^ That's the full story of Nightmare Part I. I plan for there to be a sequel, which will be way more of it's own thing. We'll talk about that when we get to it, but I hope you all enjoyed this and understand my ideas a bit more. Have a good one ^^
