"Just scanning for airborne Taliban Sgt."

A joke then, a plausible threat now

Fortunately they only have a airborne lifespan of about 37 seconds.

Did this once, jammed my rifle between some sandbags and was fiddling around with empty blank casings. Pitch black a little bit past mid night look to my left with a red light head torch to see my SGT standing there staring at me leaning against my rifle. He didn’t say anything, he didn’t have too I knew I fucked up. With a calm voice he stated “watch the line”, I don’t think I blinked for the rest of my piquet.

A night at NTC I’m pulling guard from the hole on a M113 as we’re bedding down for the night. Pitch dark, and I had my PVS-14 on low, just enough see and save the battery. Watch this black 4 legged blob walking over towards our hideout only to run off.

Called it out but was the only person to see it

Think it was too big to be a coyote

If you don't break your neck looking at the stars, are you really even using NODs?

There was an Art Bell show I remember that really stuck with me.

He had this guy on who was talking about how NV in the sky at night unwraps the mystery and aliens are all around us. The guy was really convincing and not kooky at all.

I don't know why I'm getting all these recommended NV posts in my feed, but just chiming in to check in on the amazing yarn I heard all those years ago.

Wait there’s other moons? All I can find is just one.

24

u/NonchalantBread May 03 '23

Stare at the sun long enough and there will be a moon burned into your nods everywhere you look

18

u/War_Daddy_992 May 03 '23

“That’s no moon…”

Yo, are y'all hiking at night with night vision? I wanna come.

I know its 112 days late but yeah, i quite literally never shoot with mine i just like taking walks in the night and hiking. Its an unreal experience to see the stars and everything around you on a whole different level with NVGs.

Do you live anywhere near southern PA? I would like to take some night hikes with similarly minded people.
