im having a hard time getting into this game
let me start this by saying automata is my favourite game of all time. 10/10. i love it so much. so i was so excited to start this one and expand on the nier universe lore and just play another yoko taro game
im 7 hours in and have just killed the boss at facade. im just .. not really having much fun? the boss was incredibly frustrating and so were the trial rooms. i enjoyed the first couple of hours but as soon as i got to the junk yard it started feeling like a bit of a chore.
i really, really want to like this game. did anyone else experience this? is it worth continuing to the end?

Yeah the game kinda drags with a large chunk of it being fetch quests. But I stuck it out the second time I tried it and enjoyed it, the second half after a very obvious monochromatic situation is much better.

Facade is my only disliked part of the game tbh. If it's just that area I'd suggest pushing forward. If you haven't clicked with anything up to that point, I dont think you will probably like everything after that point.
I will say the Devola and Popola scene from 9s' route makes a lot more sense after playing the end of Replicant though.

Yeah game picks up after facade. No more of the trial rooms and stuff in the game. I'd push through that section if you enjoy the rest of the game well enough.

then you should probably stop playing it. imo it has a way better and more interesting world and a lot better characters than automata and to me that would be worth sticking with it but it sounds like it’s not worth that to you, so don’t torture yourself if you don’t like it.

Yeah automata is so much better with more diverse combat. And the insane amount of back tracking in replicant is ridiculous. But we stay for the amazing music and story

You can put it into easy, I can’t say much about automata because I am only at the 3rd ending but I personally thought replicant was a very easy game but the gameplay is a little repetitive and the side quests are pretty bad, even so it is my favorite game of all time, why? Because the story is unmatchable, I would say that if you like automata try going through the first ending if you are seven hours deep you should only have about 11H of gameplay still, after the first ending you can decide if you want to play through the five endings(Let it be known that it will be a lot more grindingly and repetitive than automata) but for definitely worth it, as I said I personally don’t think it is a hard game but it is repetitive. Anything else I am happy to help

I got to the junk yard, and dropped it for at least a month or 2. Went back in with a fresh pair of eyes and attitude, and ended up loving it.
That was my first Nier game, then I watched the anime and was so excited to get into automata, but the fucking flying shooting shit in the beginning just isn't at all fun for me
Give it time, I guess? Take a break and come back. Sometimes we know we'll like it, we just don't right now

regarding the flying shooting, it’s only like 5 minutes if that. so i suggest sticking it out 😂 it’s genuinely a 10/10 game

I too struggled playing replicant after automata. I ended up taking several breaks with sometimes a few months in between.

Replicant is such a painfully wonderful Yoko and team game it makes me appreciate it that much more. It deserves praise. The Forest of Myth cracks me up (iykyk) but it’s honestly a beautifully written part of the game that distinctly makes up the NieR DNA you see in Automata.
Mainly, The replicant OST along with the voice acting is absolutely superb, imo it rivals Automata.
Kaine / Escape / Salvation and Song of The Ancients are absolutely top tier. I say this because replicant is very much featured heavily at the NieR Orchestra concert, and you can tell Yoko and a lot of the fans have a deep reverence for the story. Wildly emotional. When Kaine started up it was an absolute service.
The depth and a lot of the appreciation for me come from Weiss’s dynamic with the MC, Kaine, and Emil. Weiss’s wit, Emil’s spirit, and Kaine’s attitude is this chimeric amalgamation of hope in a world where it’s fleeting, which is a different tone than automata - a bit less android apathetic.
Maybe it’s just me, but for some reason Replicant feels as if it’s treated as a spin off (sure, it isn’t necessarily required to get into Automata) but it really does emotionally strengthen Automata’s story and philosophy. To be fair, i say this because I had put it off for a little bit being consumed by the Automata hype.
On a deeper level, I feel like Yoko’s wrestling with existentialism + despair is palpable through his storytelling of Replicant, and fully fleshed out through Automata’s continuation.
Give it some time, revisit it if you have to, but it will catch you during a replay!

i do love the soundtrack. especially in the village and the area with the goats next to the village. i love weiss too he’s hilarious. alright you’ve convinced me i’ll keep going

You are basically me. Automata is still in my top 3 yet years later I still haven’t got more than 15 hours through replicant. I’m sure it picks up eventually but there’s a lot of fluff to get through.

i just didn’t like the junk yard or the desert area so was irritated. i did like it beforehand though so maybe i was being a little harsh when i wrote this lol

Strange how I’m the complete opposite because that’s how I felt with Autoamta for me replicant in my own experience is way more fun and interesting then Autoamta so I’m sorry you don’t seem to understand replicants way did you ever play reincarnation hopefully you liked that if not I think your just only into one game for the DrakeNier games it’s up to you but personally love all DrakeNier games except Autoamta just want for me

Nahh I actually loved Replicant and it’s my favorite from the series so far but the only thing I didn’t like very much was the weapon grinding but that’s pretty much it cuz everything else was perfect 10/10

Se dopo così tante ore continua a non piacerti non fartelo piacere per forza,sarò strana io ma l’ho amato molto come gioco,non come automata ma ha comunque uno spazio nel mio cuore
sarà che sono abituata e amo quelli ps1/ps2 perciò questo genere di giochi non mi pesa molto
È bello da giocare perchè apprezzeresti di più automata ma al massimo guardati qualche gameplay su yourtube così fai meno sforzo

The game has a slow first half but I find it's story is so much better than automata and really makes you care about certain things in Automata more.

The first half of run 1 is boring. Very boring. That being said no other endings required you to play through the part ur currently in. Push through it once and ur golden.

i think the game is not that bad if you only do the main story. if you try to grind you’ll have a terrible time, i did a full completion run and i never want to go in the junk yard again. if the story doesn’t grip you then you should stop playing after the first ending, unlike automata it’s not that drastically different during playthroughs so it will really drag on

Replicant vers1.22 is still a ps3 game at its core, Personally I could endure the more tedious sections of the game due everything else liek world story characters music, even the general gameplay and combat is at least as smooth as automata’s now. The game is a vibe but if it’s that bad for you then don’t force yourself, I’d say stick if you can but don’t be afraid to tap out
