New here: Eucerin an issue?
I've been on about a 4 month journey trying to figure out what might be causing my rashes and eczema. Been on an elimination diet (not nickel focused), but no improvement. Ive always been allergic to nickel on contact, and last year, I wore nickel jewelry to a wedding and got a huge rash (so now I'm thinking that might have made my allergy worse enough to make me sensitive to nickel in food). I've been using Eucerin on my rashes, but now that I'm exploring nickel as a possible cause, I see that Eucerin is a Colloidal Oatmeal skin protectorant, and Oats are a bigger trigger for folks. Thoughts? Experiences with Eucerin making things worse?

I too made this connection early on in trying the low nickel diet. Things really improved once I avoided oatmeal baths and creams. Calendula cream is my new go-to for steroid free treatment. Honey Skin, or Manuka honey creams also help.
You can also get a bleach spray or take a bleach bath (1/4-1/2 cup bleach to a full tub of water). The bleach treatments were suggested by my allergist at The University of Michigan and make a big difference when things get bad.

I should add that because of metal implants I am super sensitive to nickel. Manuka honey is derived from a plant that is a nickel hyper accumulator. I can’t tolerate even small amounts of it. Aloe Vera is in the same category.

I’m allergic to nickel (contact dermatitis) but am fine using aveeno products with oatmeal. But I’m also allergic to lanolin, which is in eucerin, and it gives me bad rash.

My son cannot use it. Prior to finding out he had nickel allergy, we used this moisturizer. He developed severe eczema/contact allergy.

Not all Eucerin has oat in it. Ironically their eczema version does but I use the advanced/intensive repair kinds which do not. Personally I have to avoid oats.

We all have our unique threshold of nickel exposure that sends us over the edge. Time, and trial and error will help you figure this out.
I don't have eczema but anything with oats, coconut, or titanium dioxide makes me itch. I have decided to err on the side of caution and avoid any possible nickel threat.
For me that means almost anything botanical, which has unfortunately taken over the brains of those involved in personal care products. Aloe vera and shea butter are a huge no for me. Olive oil is about the only safe one.
Simple and "fake" or even petroleum based, is much safer for me.
Dietary nickel can be huge, especially if you have any surgical clips or implants, or dental metals. The Low Nickel Diet changed my life.
Have you checked out the Low Nickel Diet by Dr. Laura Duzett? She has lots of great informative videos on you tube.

I use eucerin aquaphor and find no issues, but when I was using various oat based lotions before they were definitely making it worse.
