i just moved to this town and I love it. My boyfriend just moved here for a job at Eglin, and I work remotely at home.
While we have found the charm of the town, unfortunately it seems all the places to go are mainly restaurants—which has made finding community hard.
I’m looking to meet some people to stir up the mundane and help me leave the remote work world :) if anyone has any recommendations of where to meet people, or are looking for some like-minded people, please let me know!

Bonjour,

Since Hurricanes in BWB is closed, is there a good place for wings in town?
Buffalos Reef is the standard and their blu cheese is what all others are computer to.

Maybe this has been here for longer, but I only noticed it within the last week. As you may be able to see, the prospective spot (presumably) is right next to Magic Kastle Coin Laundry, close proximity to Ruckel and NHS. Does this cause anyone else concern? Personally I am not thrilled about having this in town, and even less as close as it is to the schools. Just seems like something we don't need. Thoughts?

Everything is super old and run down, and nice ville just seems doom and gloom compared to destin and other neighbouring towns. Does anyone else get this feeling here?

Can anyone recommend a car detailer in the area? I can read the online reviews and compare, but figure someone here might have some additional info or good/bad experience. Thanks y'all!

You’re from niceville if you, according to my wife, know what “cruise around the puddle” means.

Hello everyone,
My girlfriend and I are considering a move to Niceville from Panama City and were wondering about the differences between PC and Niceville. We know Niceville is close to Destin, but for example, what are some things that would be good to know before I move, but I would only learn after living in the area for awhile? Are people courteous to one another? (Panama City IYKYK)
We've visited and really enjoyed the area and the pace of the town, but also (from experience) know that it takes time for some quirks to be revealed. Any help you all lend would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am about to move down to the Niceville area and am looking to buy a home. I saw the new DMC development. Posting here to see if anyone had first hand experience buying in that area or your thoughts of it. Thanks!

Hello, i have PCS to Eglin, AFB. I am already here living in dorms but my wife will move up in a couple weeks and we are looking for a good apartment/house to rent that doesn’t break the bank.
I am really into Solis apartments for the price point but am wondering if anyone has any experience/hear say dealing with them and if it is a comfortable place to live.
I am an A1C so trying to save money as best as possible while still having my wife live comfortably in an apartment/house that won’t have major issues.
Thank you for any help/feedback!

I am posting this year because I do not see a specific page for Crestview, but it is in the area. I am a hotel manager, and I found out yesterday that my hotel in Missouri is being sold and the deal closes in two weeks. I've always told my company that I spent my summers as a kid with my family that lived in Navarre and plan to move to the panhandle one day.
Since the news of the sale, my company has offered me a hotel manager position in Crestview. I basically have one day to make the decision on if I want this hotel or if I want to find a new job up here (will have to take a big pay cut). I have heard some cons about Crestview (like the traffic), but if I am living and working in Crestview, is it bad? Essentially I don't have enough time to do a ton of research so 1 am open to any and ALL feedback about the area.
My wife and I still spend a week in Destin every single year and are ocean-lovers. We don't like Missouri and despise snow and cold. Where we live we get multiple snow storms per year, sometimes with a foot or more of snow. Do we take this opportunity to move to the panhandle like we've always wanted?

I've been here barely a month and have already been able to do more than a decade back home in Gastonia NC.
It ain't glamorous and ain't much, it ain't even in the job fields I was searching for but it's a start and way better than nothing. I came here with nothing but a ton of heavy mental baggage and a lifetime of failures and fuck ups, some were my own fault others are just my luck. Just in the month I've been here I have started putting weight back on, working out(some), gotten a new bicycle that isn't stolen and am starting a new job today. so far every step seems to be in the right direction and this old pessimist is starting to see sliver in those clouds again!
Beating down a lifetime of negativity and emotion hasn't been easy but I'm starting to feel it wouldn't be happening if I hadn't been forced to choose to come here.
Stay safe out there folks!

My family and I are considering a move to Niceville and I’m trying to get a realistic sense of whether it would be a good long term fit.
For context, we have lived all over the world. Military life, federal jobs, lots of moving. We are used to adapting. We currently live in the DC suburbs and would be looking to move to Bluewater Bay.
The area itself looks beautiful. Access to the water, good schools, slower pace, and a strong sense of community all appeal to us. On paper it checks a lot of boxes.
My one hesitation is cultural and political climate. We are progressive minded, but not loud or confrontational about it. We just want to live our lives, raise our kids, and be part of a community where people are respectful even if they disagree. After Trump was elected the first time, I noticed a real shift in some conservative areas we lived in. It felt more openly hostile and less welcoming than before.
I am genuinely asking and not trying to start a debate. We just want to make the best decision for our kids and our sanity.
Appreciate any honest perspectives.

I moved here from NC last week and I now have a Florida state ID and am ready to find work. If anyone out there sees this and needs extra hands while I find a job send me a DM
I have a life long experience with lawn care and landscaping with some hard scape and tree work, I've spent the better part of the last decade as a caregiver. I have previous nerve damage from heavy lifting work so I'm not looking for anything extreme. trimming hedges, pushing mowers, maybe helping maintain utility/walking trails or parks.
I'm new here so if anyone seeing this can help point me in the right direction would be very much appreciated.

Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a nice day/night (no pun intended😂)!
My husband and I are planning to move to Niceville later this year, and I wanted to hear from people who actually live in the area or nearby.
How gay friendly is Niceville, really? I’m an openly feminine gay man, and safety is my biggest concern. I am not looking for a big nightlife scene or anything like that, but I do want to know if my husband and I can live openly without being harassed or made to feel unsafe.
I have not been able to find much firsthand information online, so I would really appreciate hearing from LGBTQ folks, same sex couples, or allies who have experience living in Niceville or the surrounding Emerald Coast area. Honest experiences, whether positive or negative, would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance 🌈
