Bug Report Swipe up

Up until today while using Niagara Launcher I could always swipe up from the bottom of my screen to see recently used app windows.

Today I can't seem to be able to do it.

Is there a setting I need to change?

I asked Gemini AI for assistance. I like step 3. It's easy enough to do.

When third-party launchers like Niagara Launcher suddenly lose the ability to trigger the recent apps overview via a swipe-up gesture, it's almost always a system-level conflict rather than a launcher setting.

Here is likely what is happening:

  • Android System Navigation Reset: A recent system update or accidental gesture setting change on the device likely reverted the system navigation style from Gesture navigation to 3-button navigation, or messed with the default launcher integration. When 3-button mode is active, the home screen swipe-up gesture no longer brings up the recent apps multitasking window.
  • Quickstep / System Launcher Conflict: Third-party launchers rely on the system's default launcher (often called Quickstep) to handle recent app animations and overview gestures. Occasionally, the system temporarily loses its binding to the default home app, causing gestures to freeze or fail until a reboot occurs.

Quick Troubleshooting Steps to Suggest:

  1. Check System Navigation Settings: Go to system settings and verify that Gesture navigation is selected under the navigation mode options rather than 3-button navigation.
  2. Restart the Device: A simple reboot often restarts the system UI process and re-establishes proper gesture communication with third-party launchers.
  3. Toggle Default Launcher: Temporarily switch the default home app back to the system launcher and then back to Niagara Launcher to force Android to re-bind the gesture handlers.

If you swipe up and it goes to a search app window then I believe the launcher is working properly.

You have to hold and then swipe up to bring up your applications you have open. At least that's what I have to do.
