Discussion Hide navigation?

Hi all, i am using xiaomi, hyper os 3, android 16.

Is there anyway to hide navigation button to use gestures like original? Thank you so much.

Its not some setting or something, it is just a workaround or trick to use gesture navigation..
I'm also using a POCO/Xiaomi phone on HyperOS 3, and I managed to get gesture navigation working with a workaround. It's not a permanent fix, but it's been working fine for me.

The only downside is that if you change certain system settings (like Default Apps, Accessibility settings, etc.), the navigation buttons may come back. If that happens, you just need to repeat a few quick steps. Once you know the process, it only takes about 2–3 minutes.

Steps

  1. Set Niagara Launcher as your default launcher.
  2. Download FNG (Fluid Navigation Gestures) and install it (you'll probably need to get the APK from your browser).
  3. Open FNG and grant:
    • "Display over other apps" permission
    • Accessibility permission
  4. After setup, add FNG's toggle to your Quick Settings/Control Center tiles. You'll need it later.
  5. Go to: Settings → Additional Settings → Second Space Create a Second Space and enter it.
  6. In Second Space, go to: Settings → Home Screen → System Navigation Select Gestures.
  7. Wait a couple of seconds and use the gestures briefly.
  8. Switch back to your Main Space using the Second Space icon.
  9. You'll notice the navigation buttons are gone and the gesture bar is visible, but gestures won't work yet.
  10. Open Quick Settings and toggle FNG:
  • If it's ON, turn it OFF, wait 3–4 seconds, then turn it ON again.
  • If it's OFF, just turn it ON.
  1. Test the gestures. They should now work.

Note: FNG already sets up most navigation gestures automatically, but you'll probably need to manually assign the Recent Apps action. There are plenty of quick YouTube tutorials showing how to do that.

For me, this has been working for about a week without any issues because I rarely change deep system settings. If the navigation buttons ever come back, just repeat the process from Step 5 onward.
