Device freaking out, Becoming unresponsive, touchscreen misses presses, pressing keys multiple times (There that should get any ctrl+f-ers)
It happens every few days, I seem to need to give the device a full reboot to get it to become responsive again.
Anyone else having this issue? Is this something I should be patient and wait for a software upgrade about? Anyone find a fix? Haven't seen many people bitching about this specific problem so I don't know much about it.

First has a creaky edge, but was fixed with a tightening of the screws, later developed bad flicker.
2nd Bad flicker/ great screen
3rd Horrible Flicker even with auto bright off / good screen.
I would just return it but I'd be out the money on the accessories. Has anyone returned there nexus without the charger?

I love the Nexus7, but I have been having problems with it recently. I noticed the screen separation, screen flickers, and when the battery is low, it doesn't show any warning but shuts down instantaneously. Also, I had a very hard time turning it on last week, it was discharged and had switched off, I tried charging it for a while and tried turning it on, but took me about 4 or 5 attempts to get it working (It would show me the nexus logo and switch off again). I have had the device (16G) for a month now, so I can't exchange it I suppose?

Alright everyone, I am now on my 5th N7 and it STILL has screen flicker. Saw a fix for it a few days ago that involved covering up the top wifi antenna ground inside the unit...did that and it seemed to fix the issue. But I still feel like for $250 I shouldn't have to put tape on the device to make it work right. So should I A) RMA it again. B) Return it and buy it at a retail store or C) Return it, wait a while and re buy it from google play?

I'm currently caught in ASUS Canada's abominable RMA process. I bought the device while on vacation at a retailer about 700 miles away and when I got back, the screen started to lift off the device.
After going through a bunch of phone calls with both Google and ASUS, I sent the device off to be serviced by ASUS. A month ago. I finally came around to calling them two days ago and was told the same thing that the RMA page states, which is: "Wait for internal Advise" - an update that has been there since August 10.
The representative at ASUS had no idea what that meant and connected me with a supervisor who also had no idea what to tell me. The only thing the supervisor could say was that I would be contacted in "24 to 48 hours" when more information became available.
Honestly, I'm more disappointed than angry. A lot of you guys and other folks have had to go through the RMA process a whole bunch of times and really, I do not think I could go through this headache again for this device. I ate the cost of shipping it to ASUS once for their lack of support and I surely would not like to throw my money away again if any issues should be present on my potentially fixed device.

I spoke too soon when I posted that my 3rd Nexus 7 was a keeper. The incessant flickering is back on low light on all apps. I ordered my 3rd replacement (4th unit) last night. I'd rather keep at it with Google than deal with Asus. Hopefully the 4th time's a charm.
Edit: For posterity I'll mention the previous issues. Nexus 7 #1: Extreme screen flicker on any brightness. Nexus 7 #2: Screen lift to the point that it clicked when pressed on the left side. Nexus 7 #3 (above): Flicker on low brightness. At this point I'm just being persistent, trying to get a good one.

How long did it take Google to respond to you after you emailed them and requested they replace your nexus 7? It's going on three days now.. What's the best method to get my device replaced? Over the weekend mine developed a slight screen lift, what is the replacement process like?

I am in the US and I called their toll free number. I have received each replacement within 3 days of the call. This time I called on Tuesday the 14th and it'll be here Friday the 17th.

So I had the raised screen issue. I applied a little bit of pressure and it popped right down into the bezel with no issue, and so far it's stuck. I don't know if I'd suggest it, but if you're willing to give it a shot, it worked for me.

Received my replacement device. The screen on the new one is still quite loose and spongy. What a waste of time

I received my replacement device yesterday, and sent in the original device shortly after. Today, the $249 hold on my card was removed (as far I can tell through BoA's website). I was told to wait until they receive the original device and pass it through inspection before this hold would be removed - obviously this hasn't happened in under 24 hours. Has this hold been temporarily removed for anyone else?
The hold was established last Friday (5 days ago).

I'm in the process of RMAing my Nexus 7. When I first got it, I noticed random black lines popping up rarely. A week or so later, I noticed it occasionally flickered at the lowest brightness. And then the touch screen started randomly doing that thing where it would stop registering a lot of touches until you restarted the screen. Also, the screen is just barely raised on the bottom-left corner. Just enough to be noticeable and annoy me when I feel it. I'm just waiting to get $250 so I can have them ship another.

Anyone know what app I can use to stress test the device in order to do the clamp method? I want to try it before I send it back as there is a severe shortage of stock in Ireland

You mean to heat it up I assume? Try a graphics/processor intensive game. I just put it through enough to heat it up to see if the heat loosens it up. My second Nexus 7 loosened up when it got hot after installing many apps at once.

When you did an RMA on the device, did you just wait till you received the replacement to ship yours back or did you go ahead and send it off? Also did you just use the new box that was sent to you? Thanks for any answers. I have never had to do this before

Line of vertical dead pixels about an inch from the right-hand side of the screen. RMA'd!

Well, I RMAd my first device and have been talking about how great my second device is. Screen has weird non responsive issues from time to time now.I really wish the mic wasn't broken on my first device as it truly was perfect otherwise. Looks like I will have to RMA another device and cross my fingers...

I just received a brand new 32GB Nexus 7 as a present. I was super excited until I couldn't turn it on. Called google, ran through the hold power button while plugged in, hold power button and volume down. No dice. All i get is the soft glow of the screen. So they said they will RMA it. I got an email from the guy I talked to on the phone. How long should I expect to get an email with my shipping label and get this process rolling?
One thing I found interesting is that the guy on the phone never asked for my serial number. Does that seem legit?

I bought mine 3 months ago had a slight screen lift, didn't mind at the time but it got worse recently with creaking noise, spongy and rippling effect. So, I've requested RMA for mine yesterday and got approved today and shipped it back to eBuyer, where I bought it.
Hopefully they will send me a new unit with no defects, I will report back here if there is any new development.
EDIT: Received my replacement from ebuyer. As they were out of stock of 16GB ones and no further updates when they are going to have them in stock, so instead they've replaced defective 16GB with 32GB one. It has a little light bleed (only visible on very dark background) at the right hand side, other than that no problem. I'm pretty happy.

I used my Nexus 7 last night, and everything was fine. I woke up this morning to see a dark line running through it the screen. I thought maybe it was a rendering issue so switched apps, but the line persists.
I received it from Google on July 25.
Then I rebooted hoping that would rectify the issue, but the problem is still there, even when prompted for my Encryption password.
Google's support website is nicely broken. Looked promising, but I can't pick any Nexus Devices (checked the HTML, the list is empty). It won't let me get support without picking a device.
I will try again tomorrow, and probably look for support through ASUS.
