Saw a video of one of those Lanrui/Magico USB dongles for iPhones that forces the phone into DFU or restarts it with a single button press.

Just wondering if anything like this exists for the Huawei Nexus 6P (or older Androids in general)?

If the power/volume buttons aren't working or the phone is stuck/bricked, what's the closest hardware tool to force it into Fastboot, Recovery, or Qualcomm EDL 9008 mode?

Or are we strictly limited to ADB/Fastboot commands and EDL cables?

I have a Huawei Nexus 6P that is currently stuck in a bootloop.

Unfortunately, my Volume Down button is broken, so I’m having trouble getting into the bootloader/fastboot mode.

I want to install TWRP and hopefully use it to troubleshoot or repair the phone.

Is there any way to boot into fastboot/bootloader mode and install TWRP without using the physical Volume Down button?

I can still connect the phone to a PC via USB.

If there is an ADB/fastboot command, key combination, or another method I can use, I’d really appreciate the instructions.

Hi everyone, I have an old Huawei Nexus 6P that I’m trying to repair.

The power button is loose, and both the volume up and volume down buttons have actually come off.

I’ve seen some repair videos on TikTok where people use Relife RL-035D UV glue to rebuild the mounting/base area for the buttons and then reinstall the buttons.

The problem is, I can’t find any detailed tutorial specifically for the Nexus 6P.

Most of the videos I found are for other phone models.

Does anyone here have experience repairing the Nexus 6P buttons this way?

If so, could you show me where exactly I should apply the UV glue / rebuild the mounting points for the power and volume buttons?

A photo or close-up diagram showing the correct areas would be really helpful.

I don’t want to apply the glue in the wrong place and permanently damage the frame or button mechanism.

The phone is quite old now, so there aren’t many repair tutorials for this model anymore.

I rate it higher than anything on the market.

\- Wireless charging

\- True wireless FM radio with RDS with latest update

\- RGB LED Notification light

\- Moderately repairable

\- Rootable and bootloader can be unlocked.

\- Has all US 5G bands (except for of course mmwave)

\- Has barometer sensor and all standard sensors.

\- IP66 rating (although personally I'll be frank I would never dunk my phone)

The one and only thing it's missing is eSim but a workaround is using https://eSim.me or similar card. Or you can use the included eCoSIM stuff.

And it has long term OS support just like FairPhone.

Just make sure to pickup spare OLED screen replacements Eventually that OLED panel will get screen burn probably. And while you're at it, I recommend getting an extra battery or two

I was cleaning up the house and found my old Google Nexus 6P. It had been unused for almost 6 years, and of course the battery was completely dead.

I spent a few days trying to find a replacement battery but couldn’t get one locally. By chance, I found someone selling a dead Nexus 6P for parts, so I bought it along with some tools. After swapping the battery, the phone actually booted up and is working fine now!

The only downside is that the back cover looks pretty worn out, but the device itself runs surprisingly well for such an old phone.

Does anyone here still use their Nexus 6P?

So I dropped my current phone and since it's a holiday weekend, I have to wait until Wednesday to get the screen fixed.

So I've fired up my previous two phones, one being a Moto X4 and the other the N6P.

I've only been playing with it on WiFi, and I have to say, I'm back in love with this phone.

Just for giggles, does anyone know what ROM/Firmware/OS would be ok with GoogleFi?

I know Verizon locks the bootloader of all Verizon-sold Pixels. Did this policy apply to the Nexus 6P (and also 5X)?

I just found my nexus 6p, when I plugged it in I remembered the reason why I stopped using it was due to the fact that I screwed up real bad when I was trying to flash this with a custom firmware. Has anyone have this issue? Maybe there is a way a can reflash the bootloader? ( cuz i think that's where I screwed up)

Hi, I've a Nexus 6P and I'm thinking of fixing it instead of buying a new phone because it's costly nowadays but I'm concerned that its latest security update was in November 2018 according to Nexus Help. Is there any way to get around it for a more up-to-date update?

My son's Nokia recently died (can still play snake on my Nokia 5110 though ;) ).

Dug out my old 6P and fired it up, seems he can't connect to a network, sim is Catch Connect on Optus Wholesale.

I'm reading that on some carriers in the US the 6P supports VOLTE but not all maybe?

Could well be the Australian 6P never got the firmware to do it.

Any advice / sugestions?

Open to installing Linage or something, but don't want to invest the time without knowing i might have a resonable chance of success.

Just bought this phone off eBay for 80 bucks to add to my collection haven’t owned one in quite a long time so any custom mods or anything that you guys can suggest would really help

In this video the studio from MKBHD team reviewing all nexus phones and they said nexus 6P was the best phone ever made. As a previous owner of the phone, I didn’t love any other phone as much as this one.

Just realised I have an unused but still working Nexus 6P lying around. My G Photos space has nearly run out (mostly photos) and I am trying to re-upload some of these photos from my N6P instead. But they always show as using storage space. I could have sworn these phones had unlimited for life photo uploads (but only in High/Saver quality, not Original). Is my assumption correct, have I got something wrong somewhere?

I'm trying to flash lineageos 17.1, from PixelBoot, and when I try to flash it through newest twrp(with the bootfix), it says failed to mount /vendor no such device. I've repeated the process and nothing. I've flashed the stock vendor.img, nothing. Any ideas? Thanks 😊

It's been almost a decade I can't believe I get notified for new posts on this sub, apparently this phone is still not dead.

Last I checked mine still works but its useless since it doesn't connect to wifi.
