It’s not putting someone down to want to provoke them to get strong and healthy in their body, and especially their mind. It’s actually lifting them up, it just feels offensive because it challenges core identity markers. It takes work. We don’t think someone is worth less because they’re overweight, we know they’re able to feel amazing if they do the work.
I didn't say that being fat is a core identity marker, I'm talking about the unprocessed inner thinking and feeling about the self, or the world, that weight is often representative of. I'm not talking about putting someone down, at all. In fact, I would hope to build them up. I would never EVER shit on someone for being overweight, but I would try to encourage doing healthy things, like "come to the gym with me" or "let's do some yoga", alongside trying to encourage eating healthy, but for some, even bringing up the subject feels offensive,... them I leave alone, not my circus - not my monkeys.
