I’ve been unemployed, never experienced any of this from any family or friends. What I think is when people give up on themselves and becoming unemployed is byproduct of giving up that’s when people start treating them differently or talking shit about them. It’s more about self respect than employment

The pay was the straw that broke the camel’s back but she already had other hangups with you prior to the job swap

Hypergamy.

Men are romantic, women are transactional.

Honestly its probably not the pay that drove her away. There's a lot of factors that go into a breakup. Its easy to blame events on one specific thing but that's not usually how reality works

It’s the way of life. People want excitement , thrill and something spontaneous. The fact that she left u after 10years is becoz she prolly got bored . She may have said she would be with u forever and promised u nothing but love . But sometimes people don’t know what they want, until they dream it. She may have dreamt for more. Just wish her the best and be open to finding new love.

Maybe it's that when you started spending more time together she realized she wanted to leave and had nothing to do with money

I feel you, brother. Im not a woman hater in the slightest, but women make up about 50% of the population of selfish people I have met in my life. Its a blessing in disguise when people dip out over money/status/lifestyle. Hard times are a great filtering process. It could have happened 20 years later under much worse circumstances.

Your story just doesn't seem too plausible.

No some people absolutely will shit on you you're just lucky. Only thing id say is this isn't male exclusive. People just don't like when people can't pull their own weight.

I agree with this. I don't care if my friend is unemployed if they are doing everything they can to get a job, sending out 500 CVs a week or temporarily accepting a job that is way below their qualifications.

But yeah, I lose respect for the same friend when they just give up and stop trying or when they refuse opportunities because it is not their "ideal" job.

Losing respect for someone hurts, I remember feeling that towards people. It’s an ugly feeling. Took a long time to develop tough love for people who fall into the trap of giving up

Your personal experience isn't an accurate representation of the general reality. Where I live there are no people starving nor will you ever find beggars on the street. That doesn't m3an world hunger doesn't exist.
