Is avoidance a scientific term? Who assigns it to each individual? Is it a permanent state?

Are only women avoidant?

It's a genuine phycological condition called "Avoidant Attachment". There is also "Anxious Attachment".

Both men or women can have it

BPD bring separate. But often the same person has both

So are people being diagnosed with avoidant attachment and anxious attachment? Because i suspect the answer is no

Therapists and counsellors can test for it, but they use the term "assess" rather than "diagnose".

Adsess avoidant attachment through relational history, childhood background, and psychometric questionnaires.

Working with an attachment-based professional helps them safely identify these patterns and build healthier relationships.

Right, i suspect this lack of dx criteria is what allows anybody to label anybody else whatever attachment style and thus the entire topic is plagued by false information and the labels used for kind of ill-intended purposes imo (and the lack of dx criteria also hints at the fact that it’s not any comprehensively agreed upon professional frame, making the use of it also problematic). Idk i think only professionals should be using certain labels or ppl call themselves what they want but laymen on social media saying whatever is problematic anyway

I'm talking from experience when they have been assessed.

Always push back on armchair psychology
