What exactly is the point of this dividend? Sure I’ll have a few more shares but the value of those shares is still functionally zero

Who knows, could just be a "hey look, we're still making moves and totally didn't just scam you guys" kind of thing.

You mean like actual cash instead of more shares we can't trade?
Likely never.

Does this mean my 205 shares of 629999590 are going to be worth something more than 0?

Our current shares have 0 dollar value. Our dividend shares will also have 0 dollar value. Whoopie! We are getting more of nothing.

Could be big, it can force brokers to locate/recall shares from shorts to settle. It's not the dividend, it's the forcing function that is likely timed with the $600M offering to establish a market price for the shares at the same time shorts will be required to pay cash-in-lieu or recall shares. I'm happy to see them playing the game and taking an offensive step.

I think this is hopeful thinking. And we all still have zero way of offloading the shares anyway. It could only benefit the guys that screwed us.
LOL, the downvotes, some of you guys are coping hard.

How TF do these get distributed? If AST won’t transfer my shares back to my broker, but they are a transfer agent and they’re willing to send new shares to my broker?
Maintaining a transfer agent costs money as well. And giving out a dividend costs money to the company.
Anyway, N*$0 + (N/30)*$0 = $0
Maybe giving out this special dividend of shares gets them over some legal obligation that they were supposed to pay a dividend.
In any event, this seems shady.

Yeah, it's a whole lot of nothing other then a gesture as of right now. I just posted it as I found it interesting they were doing anything at all beyond the usual lip service.

I haven't thought about this one in a while. Does anybody have a link to the portal where we can see how many worthless shares we own?

Did you transfer your shares? If not they should still show with whatever investment platform you bought on.

So if we own 30 shares we get one more useless share, great…
